First Mahone game tonight and we are sporting our new helmet decals in remembrance of Ron Peterson. We know he would be proud of our 36 to 6 win over Bullen tonight.

Come out on September 16th for our Honor Night. Bring cash! There will be raffle baskets and donation opportunities. All proceeds go to the Ron Peterson Scholarship Fund and Cancer Research.

G. T. Karber at Mahone Middle School!
Nationally bestselling author of the Murdle and Murdle Jr series, G.T. Karber, is coming to Mahone Middle School on October 6th for a 6th-grade assembly during the school day! Karber will walk 6th-grade students through a live puzzle, teaching problem-solving skills and logic during an incredibly fun activity!

You can order any of G. T. Karber's puzzle and story books from Blue House Books for your 6th grader to pick up during the event! All books will be signed by the author, and you may request personalization. The order deadline is Monday, September 27th.

🍎 **2026–27 MEAL PROGRAM UPDATE** 🍎

Hello Mahone families
We have received many calls on this topic, please reach out to food services at 262-359-6382 with questions, our staff does not have access to food service information. We want to make sure you have the latest information about school meals for the 2026–27 school year!

KUSD has transitioned from a districtwide **Community Eligibility Program (CEP)** to a **partial CEP**. This means students at CEP schools can receive healthy breakfast and lunch **at no charge each school day** without completing a meal application.

📌 **Mahone Middle School is a NON-CEP school.**

Students attending non-CEP schools may qualify for **free or reduced-price meals** based on household eligibility information.

Completing the annual **Free and Reduced Meal Application** may help your family qualify for:

Important: Changes to Free & Reduced-Price Meals

📢 Mahone Families,

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, KUSD is transitioning from a districtwide Community Eligibility Program (CEP) to a partial CEP model.

As a result, Mahone Middle School will return to the traditional Free/Reduced/Paid meal model. Families who may qualify for free or reduced-price meals will need to complete an application.

🍎 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Applications Are Now Open!

We encourage all Mahone families who may qualify to complete the annual application. In addition to helping determine eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, completing the application can help families access additional benefits, including:

• Title I support for additional academic services, instructional support, and resources
• Athletics fee waivers
• Fine arts fee waivers
• AP testing fee waivers

Direct Certification

Some students are automatically eligible for free or reduced-price meals through Direct Certification. This may apply to students who are foster children or whose households participate in programs such as FoodShare (SNAP), W-2/TANF, Medicaid, or FDPIR.

If your student is directly certified for free meals, you do not need to complete a meal application.

If your student is directly certified for reduced-price meals, you may still want to complete the application based on your household size and income to see if additional benefits are available.
