Kindergarten students in Mrs. Kreuser's class recently completed their exciting Human Body module in PLTW with Mrs. Hodges!
Throughout the unit, students discovered what makes each of them unique while exploring the structure and function of the body's inner parts. They became young scientists by building and testing model lungs and even created their own hand "x-rays" to better understand bones. The class also connected their learning to literature by reading a story about a girl who broke her arm and needed an x-ray and a cast.
Inspired by the story, students completed a fun and creative final project, designing casts that were strong, comfortable, lightweight, and water-resistant. Their "patients"? Their very own teddy bears!
What a wonderful way to bring science, creativity, and problem-solving together.

Our 5th grade engineers in Mrs. Krause’s class put their learning into action! Using everything they gained this year in Mrs. Domenk’s STEM class, they connected their skills to the construction work happening right outside our building.
Their mission? Help their LEGO friends transform a pile of rubble into an exciting amusement park ride—and they rose to the challenge! 💡🎢
Each team designed a ride for four riders, programmed with at least one motor, a light, and a sensor. Their presentations showcased creativity, problem-solving, inspiration, and strong effort. Bonus points were even awarded for wheelchair accessibility!
To make it even more special, students shared their projects with their 1st grade reading buddies. 💙
This was truly a student-led experience—and it was AMAZING!

Ms. Ziemba’s 4K students recently completed their PLTW Healthy Habits module with Mrs. Hodges! Throughout the unit, students learned about many ways to keep their bodies healthy. They explored what happens at the doctor’s office and practiced using a stethoscope, learned the importance of exercise, and even tasted several different healthy foods.
Students created a model of their teeth and practiced proper brushing techniques, learned about the parts of the eye and built eye models out of clay, and worked like real scientists by conducting a handwashing experiment using fake germ lotion and a UV flashlight. The students had a great time while learning many important healthy habits!
