Southport Maritime

KenoshaSailing.org is looking to develop a high school and collegiate sailing program and is seeking Club 420s for next season. Even though Kenosha has a beautiful harbor, four colleges, and six high schools there isn’t a competitive sailing program in the community. So, we’re starting one. Please contact me if you know organizations that are upgrading and willing to part with their old boats!

The United Nations hosted its first World Oceans Day, which sought to celebrate oceans while also raising awareness of the threats that they and their marine ecosystems face.

The United States has always been and will always be a great maritime nation. From our origins as 13 British colonies, through every period of peace and conflict since, the Merchant Marine has been a pillar in this country’s foundation of prosperity and security. They power the world’s largest economy and strengthen our ties with trading partners around the world, all while supporting our military forces by shipping troops and supplies wherever they need to go.

IMPACT THE LIFE OF A CHILD! 💙

What inspires more hope for us all than the hope held by a child? As our world swirls with crime, wars, and conflict, bringing a smile to a child’s face through opportunity and programs where they can learn and feel safe is priceless.

This summer we will take kids from all over Chicago to day camps where they have the opportunity to be on the water, learning about safety and experience being on a boat. Fresh air and FUN!

The Humane Society of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was founded by a group of Boston citizens who were concerned about the needless deaths resulting from shipwrecks and drownings and wanted to find ways to save lives. It was based on the Royal Humane Society, a similar organization established in Great Britain in 1774. The Massachusetts Humane Society became the model for the United States Life Saving Service, funded by Congress in 1848 and operated by the United States Coast Guard since 1915.

Happy Thanksgiving! This morning while
Beach combing, found more evidence that a fresh water clam bed is trying to recover here at Eichelman Beach!

While cleaning up Eichelman Beach today we found this big clam shell. Who knows what kind of clam this is?

We spent an hour this morning cleaning cigarette butts, flossers and other things off of Eichelman Beach so it's safer for kids and dogs!
