It is Wednesday! That means that school is dismissed at 2:00 pm today.

School is dismissed today at 3:17 pm. Below are some key procedures we want to remind you about -
🚲 🛴 Students should walk their bikes or scooters while on school grounds and in crosswalks.
🚶🚶Everyone should ONLY cross using the crosswalks (marked in yellow).
🟨 Shows crosswalks that should have crossing guards.
🚌ONLY buses should be in the bus loop. Please do not walk across it.
🟥 Shows NO parking areas in the back of the building to allow buses to move safely.
🟩 Shows the path to our drive-thru pick up line and the green numbers are our 6 staging areas.
🟧 Shows the path if you want to park in the parking lot during dismissal time.
👮🏼Please watch for Officer Mike and his directions as he will guide traffic and work to keep all of our Mustangs safe!

Please remember that outside supervision begins at our line up spots at 8:30 am. Our playground toys are closed in the morning. Students may arrive at 8:15 am for breakfast but should not be dropped off before 8:30 am if they are not eating breakfast.

Congratulations to our very own, amazing Mrs. Waters! She was honored with the KSD Elementary Teacher of the Year award this morning! We are so proud of her and this well deserved accomplishment.

We hope you can join us for our open house style, back to school event on Monday, August 31. We look forward to seeing all our Mustangs between 4:30 – 6:00 pm. You can meet your teacher, drop off supplies and check out the school. Be sure to stop by our ATP’s refreshments and resources table to sign in, grab some snacks and learn about the Title 1 resources available at Sunset View. Additionally, we will have other information about many fun things to do as a part of our Sunset View community. Kona Ice will be here, too, if you feel like purchasing a tasty treat! Enjoy your last weekend of summer and we will see you soon!

Our end of the year assembly is at 9:15 am, followed by our 5th grade walk. Today is an 11:27 am early release. Get ready to soak it all in!

2026-27 Leadership Announcement 📣

Kennewick School District has selected Jessica Wilson as the next principal of Sunset View Elementary School beginning with the 2026-27 school year.

Ms. Wilson currently serves as principal of Keene Riverview Elementary in the Prosser School District, a position she has held since 2021. Before becoming a principal, she worked as an elementary math intervention specialist, fifth-grade teacher and elementary reading specialist.

“Ms. Wilson is a thoughtful learning focused leader who is committed to ensuring every student succeeds,” said Jared Lind, director of elementary education for the Kennewick School District. “Her strong instructional leadership, commitment to collaboration, and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families will make her an excellent fit for the Sunset View Elementary community.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Washington University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Washington State University Tri-Cities
