The students of Phoenix High School earn credit by doing projects to show mastery of state learning standards. In the Band Camp group project, students learned to play a rock n roll song on an instrument they have never played before. Then, they learn to use recording software to record and mix their song. This year, students learned to play "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They also learned about the science and technology of electronics, the art and science of screen printing, and how to run a recording studio and produce music. Finally, students recorded and edited this music video. Check it out below!!

Superintendent Shout-out to Phoenix High School!
"It was fabulous at Phoenix today! The school was buzzing with activity as students worked on their projects. Shout out to teachers Sarah Ard, Jill Mulhausen and Patrick Yecha for their efforts! I was so busy watching students at work, the only picture I took was this great one of Principal Guy Strot. Congratulations to all the Phoenix grads and I look forward to seeing you at graduation!"

Looking Back & Dreaming Ahead with the Class of 2025 💭💫➡️
Meet Tori Yetter, a multi-talented senior who plays several instruments and dreams of becoming a music therapist so she can help others while doing what she loves. She’s a standout athlete on the Southridge High School Track & Field team and will continue her athletic journey at Clark College this fall.
As the third eldest of nine siblings, Tori takes on significant responsibilities at home, from transporting her younger siblings to helping care for them. Despite her many commitments, she remains deeply involved in her community, participating in the Forte youth choir, local theater productions, and her church.
Academically, Tori excels as a student with a passion for learning. “Tori stands out for her exceptional initiative, leadership, faith, and intellectual curiosity, which she has demonstrated through ambitious projects like leading the production on a rock-and-roll history video and conducting independent research on dance, cloud science, and soap making,” Jill Mulhausen, Tori’s advisor, said. “She’s an engaged learner who reflects deeply on her growth and actively applies feedback to improve.”
We’re incredibly proud of you, Tori, and we know you will continue to do amazing things!

Meet Isaiah Smith, a senior at Phoenix High School with a dream of becoming a distinguished author. He’s well on his way, with two published books and a dedicated spot on the shelf in the Phoenix High School Library.
His debut novel, Scion, is a science fiction adventure that follows a character named Simon who discovers he is from another planet. Isaiah also contributed a chapter to a collaborative book on indigenous history.
Beyond his writing, he’s also an active member of Destiny’s Dozen, Phoenix’s student leadership group.
“Isaiah is a big brother figure,” Sarah Ard, Isaiah’s advisor, said. “He shows an amazing amount of patience and leadership with all of our students, who gravitate toward him because he’s always really well-informed.”
We can’t wait to read what Isaiah writes next!
