🇺🇸 Labor Day Schedule Update

In observance of Labor Day, North Metro Toastmasters will not meet on Monday, September 7th, 2026.

We’ll be back together on Monday, September 14th, 2026.

This meeting was a reminder that confidence doesn’t always look like having it all figured out. Sometimes, it simply looks like getting up and speaking anyway.

From Chris stepping up for his very first Ice Breaker, to Ramy completing Level 2 of Innovative Planning, to three members thinking on their feet during Table Topics - August 31st meeting was full of the kind of progress we love to celebrate.

With Shardae leading Table Topics, members were challenged to think on their feet around the theme “Summer to Fall.”
- Rex responded to a prompt centered around being on a remote island.
- Yolanda shared her response to “Soundtrack of the Summer,” reflecting on a song/soundtrack connected to her summer.
- Jennifer responded to “By the Water,” sharing around a summer moment or experience connected with being near the water.

No one walks into Toastmasters as a finished speaker. We practice. We get feedback. We try again. And little by little, we find our voice.

That’s what Monday nights are about.

What if becoming a better speaker wasn’t about being fearless, but about having a place to practice?

That’s what Monday nights at North Metro Toastmasters are all about.

Our August 24 meeting brought together public speaking, leadership, feedback, impromptu speaking, and a lot of laughter.

- Angel simplified the what, how, and why of Toastmasters Pathways, showing us how the program turns practice into intentional growth. Her reminder: “Your growth is the club’s growth.”
- Lilian got the room thinking with “The Changing Food System,” exploring how technology and food production are changing what ends up on our plates.

During Table Topics, Layla challenged members to speak off the cuff about the little things that shape our lives, from meaningful memories and a simple smile to habits that make us 1% better each day.

Because at Toastmasters, you don’t have to walk through the door already knowing how to command a room.

You come here to practice. You get feedback. You try again. And little by little, you find your voice.

Most people don’t have a public speaking problem. They have a connection problem.

Terry Szuplat, former White House speechwriter and author of “Say It Well”, spent years studying what makes a message actually connect.

A few lessons worth stealing:
✨Don’t waste your opening warming up. Give people a reason to listen.
✨ Don’t just give us the numbers. Give us the human story behind them.
✨ Nervous before speaking? That energy may simply mean you care about what you’re about to say.
✨ And your story doesn’t need to be extraordinary to be worth telling.

At Toastmasters, you don’t wait until you’re a “confident speaker” to start speaking.

As Amin starts his new chapter we just want to thank him for being such an important part of our Toastmasters family and for the leadership he brought as our Club President.
Your positivity, encouragement, and energy helped make our group what it is, and we’re going to miss having you at our meetings.
