The Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program (KSUMEBUS) is a 24-credit hour certificate program that prepares students for success in the music and entertainment industry. This week, our advanced audio production students worked behind-the-scenes in the recording process, sitting in on sessions for drums, bass, guitar, and vocals while learning how a song comes together track by track.

As with all our classes, these students got to work with real-world professionals - in this case with Grammy nominated sound engineer Steven Morrison, professor Danny Howes, and artist Stratton James.

Here’s a sneak peek into our Creative Adaptability class which teaches students the fundamentals of creativity by teaching them filmmaking. In this class, instructor and filmmaker Dale Raphael Goldberg along with instructor and filmmaker Phil Wirsig, demonstrate how to safely use lighting equipment and how to light a scene. Just another example of students learning real world skills and techniques from real world practitioners. It’s that time again! Showtime! The MEBUS Expo is back for its 15th consecutive year and it’s better than ever. Come see your peers and alumni perform some of music’s greatest hits along with some original music written by our own students. After 15 years of doing this, it’s become a packed show with one great piece after another. It’s a night of fun and excitement put on right in the Bailey Performance Center on the KSU Campus. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?!
