Teacher friends: Are you looking for an engaging summer professional development opportunity that is off the beaten path? Join us June 2 -4 at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for the third iteration of our summer institute: Teaching in the Wild.

This is a no-cost workshop open to all educators -- grades Pre-K through college and all content areas. Consider applying and joining us for some fun learning and exploring outdoors and participating in what past participants have affectionately called "teacher camp!"

Teacher friends, here is one more for you! Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project, a National Writing Project site, is offering online workshops during the month of July! Most of them are a $25 fee, and they will be packed with active engagement, practical ideas, and applicable resources.

As we have all learned this spring, the best thing about virtual is that you don't have to be local to metro Atlanta to participate.

Hello teacher friends!

Are you looking for a way to begin planning and thinking about the school year to come? Would you like to meet with fellow teachers to discuss an amazing and important book? Well, I have THE book club for you! Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project teacher-leaders Amanda Montgomery and Val Barr will be co-hosting a book club though KMWP on the book Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. This is a free event and participants will meet three times over the summer:

July 1st at 4:00pm (over Zoom) to discuss the first two parts of the book.

July 15th at 4:00 pm (over Zoom) to discuss the third and fourth parts of the book.

July 25th (time TBD) at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park visitor's center to discuss the whole book and how it will affect change in our teaching.
