We were able to pack in a number of in-person field trips before the year ended! The 2nd graders got to explore the Kennebunk River from the source to the sea, and the fifth graders enjoyed a day exploring Stage, Fort, and Redin Island! We are excited to jump into more field trips this fall. Thank you to all the teachers and parents who helped plan and chaperone, and to Nancy Viehmann for letting us use her backyard as an outdoor classroom!

**THIS SUNDAY!** Support graduating KHS Seniors in the Gulf of Maine Field Studies class by attending their Community Field Trip this Sunday, May 15th from 3:30PM-5PM at 48 Langsford Road in Cape Porpoise. All year students have been researching and developing solutions to climate issues impacting the community (such as erosion, sea level rise, and invasive species) and during this event students will share the ideas/solutions they have developed and walk attendees through their fieldwork site (bring your boots!)
PARKING POINTERS: There is no public parking lot in Cape Porpoise so attendees should find their own parking in spots along the bottom part of Langsford Road or surrounding roads in Cape Porpoise. Please allow enough time to park and walk so you arrive at the 48 Langsford Road site for 3:30PM!

Eating locally is a GREAT way to think GREEN (and eat greens!). Not only does it support local small businesses but also reduces green house gas emissions from transportation to get the food from the source to your plate.

But we know it can be hard to make the change... challenge your family to shop at a farmers market 3 times this summer! Tag us in your family farmers market shopping selfies to share ☀️

Stop! Before throwing away your egg carton think about what you could store in it. Why not plant herbs in it? Maybe store screws, beads, chains, or even ribbon in it. If you have kids have a little fun with them and create flowers or bird feeders from the egg carton.
