💗 PINK DAY at South Side! 💗

Today we were seeing PINK everywhere as our Trailblazers showed that we’re not afraid to think pink, wear pink, and bring the pink! 🎀

Our staff also kicked off the morning with some great Tier 1 MTSS professional development! We had meaningful discussion about what great classroom instruction looks and sounds like and how we can continue to strengthen the instruction happening in every South Side classroom. 📚💪

A little professional learning, a lot of great conversation, and plenty of PINK! 💕🌸

And finally, we ended the day with a great gesture of friendship at dismissal! Our Trailblazers are really demonstrating community, family, and our August life skill of Teamwork!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Calling all South Side Trailblazers! 🧭

Does your K-5 student love to run, compete, or just have fun being active? Check out the Hornet Hustle Elementary Cross Country Race in Angola!

This 1-mile race is open to all K-5 students, and last year’s event had 70 participants from schools across the surrounding area. It’s a great opportunity for elementary runners to get out, challenge themselves, and have some fun!

We ended our first full week with something new.

Today we started a new South Side tradition:

Compass Points! 🧭

Every Friday after dismissal, our staff will gather around the compass rose in front of the office to take a few minutes to celebrate the great things that happened throughout the week.

A student breakthrough. A staff member going above and beyond. A classroom moment that made us smile. A funny story. A small victory. A big accomplishment. Whatever it is, Compass Points gives us a chance to stop, look around, and recognize the good happening all around us.

There’s something pretty special about ending the week together and reminding ourselves why we do what we do.

Our staff doesn’t need another meeting. They need opportunities to celebrate, connect, and remind each other that the work matters.

I’m excited to see where this little tradition takes us.

Kindergarten color days continue! Today was Green Day!

It was a busy day for our Trailblazers! Mr. T and Mr. C continued classroom visits to remind students of expectations and procedures. They reminded students that they simply need to:

Be Respectful
Be Kind
Be Responsible
Be Safe

Or simply….

Do the Right Thing
Treat People Right

Parents, these are the phrases and language that you can use with your children to help reinforce what we want them to demonstrate each day at South Side. It will help them be the best Trailblazer they can be!
