💻 Information Technology Student Spotlight: Josh Price

For Josh Price, a future in Information Technology is already taking shape at James Sprunt Community College!

A senior at Wallace-Rose Hill High School, Josh is getting a head start through JSCC’s Career and College Promise (CCP) program. His goal is to earn an associate degree in Information Technology and pursue a career in hardware repair and technology troubleshooting. He also hopes to continue his education at UNC Pembroke, expanding his skills in computer networking and technical support.

Along the way, supportive instructors have made a lasting impression.

“Although at times, CCP can be challenging, good instructors have made all the difference in my time here,” Josh shared.
Josh takes two in-person classes with instructor Nathan McKee, whose lessons connect classroom learning with new technology and workplace applications.

“I am so glad he is my first class in the morning!”

Josh has also gained hands-on experience, including spending a day alongside a county IT professional. Experiences like these help students explore career paths, build their résumés, and see how their classroom skills apply in the workplace.

We’re proud of Josh’s hard work and excited to see where his passion for technology takes him! 💙

Our Strickland Student Center came alive with creativity and community today as students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month!

💀 Our talented Cosmetology students showcased their artistry with an elaborate Día de los Muertos-inspired display, featuring beautifully painted faces and intricate nail designs.

📚 Students also enjoyed cultural activities and sampled refreshing traditional drinks, including horchata, jamaica con piña, and tamarindo.

A special thank you to our Latino Center, Library, Cosmetology program, Student Government Association, and Aroma y Corazon Coffee Truck for helping make this celebration possible!

James Sprunt Community College recently partnered with Duplin County Schools for Careers in Motion, introducing 750 Duplin County fifth graders to exciting career possibilities!

JSCC’s Agriculture, Commercial Truck Driving (CDL), and Lineworker programs helped students explore how these careers keep our communities growing, moving, and connected. We’re proud to help inspire the next generation of professionals! 💙

⚙️ From chips to code—and ideas to finished parts!

Students in JSCC’s Chips-to-Code machining class are putting precision into practice! Under the guidance of instructor Jordan Knowels, they’ve completed their first project: a precision spirit level. 👏

Using both manual and CNC machining, students took ownership of each step—from cutting material and choosing tools to setting up the machines and programming directly with G-code. Along the way, they built the problem-solving skills and confidence needed in a real manufacturing environment.

💻 Up next: 3D modeling and manufacturing with Autodesk Fusion! Students will learn how to turn digital designs into machined parts, connecting creativity with technical skills.
