Got a request for the chemical that cleared all the rust and more of the boat in the last post. Here it is. Not sure if it is legal in the US but it is bad ass. Spray it on and leave it or use a wire brush in tough spots. Then just spray it off with water. Literally you can watch rust disappear. Rust around the wind less that nothing cleaned the rust is gone. My dingy looks brand new. Changed my life it's so good. Will research if I can bring it in for my cable railing. Hope this helps. It's like $12 here. Probably $200 in the US. Lol
See you out there!!!

Here is Halloween in the islands for SV Wings . Remember everyone is limited on resources and are from foreign countries. Some don't even understand Halloween but we're good sports. If we had stayed at La Pharr blue Granada then it is a big gathering of US Boats. At Sandy Island there are British, French, Canadian, American, and many more.. Sooo with that said I forced the teens from Wings and Ohana out on the dingy. They were not happy till the first boat. Apple sauce packets from an Australian boat. The next boat was American and provided some carrots. That is all they could spare. The next boat was French and gave the kids cans of Tuna. This is a big deal to give out meat and not sure what Halloween is about. Stopped by a British couple and then gave out some fine biscuits that are amazing. Kids were not interested but I checked them as a responsible parent. Saves 2 for coffee I'm the morning. Americans were next and they were so happy to continue the tradition and gave us apples.they were giddy to say the least. Next was a French, Canadian, and English boat with some ladies that were having a great time. They poured some M&M's in the bag. I have a feeling I need to talk to them tomorrow why they gave candy. They seemed confused. Last boat was an older American couple and they gave fine chocolate. I feel bad for them doing that and will bring a bottle of wine in the morning. In all it was a fun time. All the kids and boats laughed and had a good time. Halloween is probably my favorite holiday.
Happy Halloween!!!!

Well let me invite you to see a general plan on what path we will take to St Thomas. I will be leaving georgetown to St Thomas posibly monday If I can pull it off. Stores are closed for provisioning till monday. What most people dont relize is you may get to the store and the bread boat didn't show up. Lol. No bread for you for the week. It is all like that on the hook. This goes for for all foods, fuel, and propane. You never know. Today was no credit cards any where I was. Couldn't get cash, so it is what it is. If we miss the window, it looks rough. This is a generalized map and will refine it. Remember I am traveling with my doughter so I don't get a lot of quality sleep when we are moving. The passage from the DR to Puerto Rico is a long part. I will be tired but it is the sortest jumps I could come up with and with the weather window this next week. If you have some stops you would sagest in the south side of Puerto Rico or things to see, let me know.

Well, we made it to the boat. Wings was glad to see us. She was in good shape when we arrived. Even though we were gone she was helping cruisers with repairs. All parts borrowed were returned and local neighbors kept an eye on her. Pretty cool that other cruiser see you and are happy to have us back. Looking forward to the sailors net on 72 tomorrow to get at pace.
We navigated the in and out of the Bahamas and learnd a lot of lessons. Bring your paperwork to the boat!!. Very confusing for administration understanding you are just heading to your boat. I am currently geting a refund from AA. They tried to make us keep the ticket we didn't have to buy come to find out. As they tried to stick me with it , I recited their return policy and am getting a refund. Thanks Chad for teaching me how. Alexa was proud as I used there contracts and words against them. We stripped the boat before we left, so ramen and warm rum and coke for dinner. Things could be worse. We will replenish the boat of food, propane, and deisle jerry cans tomorrow to get ready for monday heading to USVI. That is the plan at least. It will be a good push for Alexa and me. It will be two maby three over night sails to get there.
See you out there!!!

Well here is a lesson when returning back to your boat that is out of country.
I booked a round trip ticket from GT back to texas and then return back to GT. Not knowing all the travel rules we ran into a problem with the airline and posibly immigration. We didn't have paperwork with us showing a deparcher date from the Bahamas. All of it is on the boat for when we check out going to St John. I didnt think of this since it is the first time I have sailed into a country, flew back to Texas, and planned to come back and sail on. We ended up having to buy tickets back to miami at a later date to show a deparcher date till paper work can be provided to the airline and get a refund. You get to pick a later date 3 monthes out so jump on a travel site and pick the cheapest one. This has to happen in 24 hours so call and get the ball rolling if you run into the same thing. For now on we will travel with documentation showing deparcher dates.
All is good. Looking forward to getting back on Wings.
Hope this helps.
See you out there!!!
The picture of the dog is there so people will read the post.

Treasure of the buildge swap meet. Really more of a social gathering. Was able to off load a nonworking ice maker and a old hammock. The cat is named cat and chill. Unreal how friendly he is and doesn't take any crap from cruiser dogs. Signed the bar with wings. What a fun morning.. Going to hike the art traill when Alexa is done with school.

We moved wings about a mile from the chat and chill north to go explore a monument. It was a little bit of a hike but worth it. After getting to the top, you look out over the bay and what a view in all directions. If you zoom in to the rocks below you can see all the boat names of visiting boats. Wings will be added today. Later on there is a full moon gathering at the top that I will be bringing my gas can of pain killers that I am sure will be a hit. After getting here they have a sailnet on VHF 72 and talk every morning at 8am to let all the cruisers know what is going on. This was so helpfull. Learned about resterants and where to shop for groceries. You also learn what cruisers have organized like gatereing and swap meets and so on. Good information like weather and lost dingys found. Also if you reach out to the community on 68 at any time people will call back with whatever you are needing to help. Very family feel here. Alexa is in love with the $7 cheesburger on the beach that chat and chill offer. I can see why people stay in this location and don't move on.
See you out there!!!

We got a late start heading to George Town. Looking at when we would get in and tides we decided to stop. Originally we wanted to go to little farmers but insted ended up at Rudder cut cay. This was a neat place. there is Copperfield's piano and mermade about 12 feet under water. Also there is a Cave that you can go into and hang out. Normally cruisers get together and cocktail in there but I guess I was with a boring group of cruisers. lol. Didn't stop Alex and I from enjoying our selves as usual. I have also combined some pictures from the Thunderball Gratto that the James Bond film was made. This was really fun to explore. Enjoy the pictures!
See you out there!!!

Kinda a boaring day. Woke up early around 8am. Made coffee, 2 eggs and hung out with the late sun rise. Debated on getting into the hammock. Then a catamaran started pulling an anchore and made me feel like I should be getting to the next location. Race is on. Lol. Quick pack and off we go. Sort the rest of the stuff as I go. Destination highborn cay. 32 miles from rose island. Alexa wakes up to give me a dirty look for interrupting her sleep and joins me on the deck. The cat that left before me is a couple with 2 young boys and have a few problems that they sort out. After a quick chat on the VHF we decide to hang out while sailing since their auto pilot is down. Went though a little rain but other then that it was a perfect sail. Cought a fish and skinned it for diner. Anchored up at highborn and went in to explore the island. We were told it was a private island and we were not allowed to wonder but we could get over priced groceries and an expensive meal at the restaurant. Boo. Don't get me wrong, it is gorgeous we just are not the clientes they are looking for. Super solid holding for ancorage is about 20' deep. There are a lot of boats here from small to super yacht. Weather is not great but will push on in the morning. Fed some sharks what was left of the fish. One bit my lader on the boat, nibbled the prop on the dingy and severed my pot cleaning line.. lost the cutting board that I didnt like anyway. Just another day cruising.
See you out there!!!

Long day today. Pulled in and fueled up, rented a dock space, and went to the store for food. I also did some repairs like swapping batteries, fixed the dingy, and just general stuff to get ready to go. Boat is floating heavy again. The problem with sitting for a while is you start to leave stuff out like living at home. So storing everything takes up a ton of time. The boat is literally completely full of stuff like food, spare parts and fuel. Litteraly on the floore of the boat. We are planning on heading out day break Monday to Marathon. Looking forward to getting moving. Took Alexa out to see the 6 toed cats and learned alot about himmingway. What a lucky man when things were good and rough when he was fighting but made the best of it. Tring to get pics is tough of a 14yo. If you are a parent of teens you understand. Alexa is also ready to go. Key wes was pretty boaring for her. For me meeting up with all the other cruisers was a treat. Learning their stories of good, the bad, and the ugly is always good to hear for your sanity. Lol. If you are thinking of doing the same as me then whatever power for aminities just double it. Key west is expensive so going to shore isn't an option unless you have a heavy budget. Hopefully in Bimini by next Monday.
See you out there!!!

Well bloody mary Friday's is catching on. Looks like 3 of us are heading out to Marathon on Monday and then boot key Tuesday. We will hunker down till Sunday and ride a south wind and gulf stream to bimini and check in. Probably won't stay long and take off past Nassau and work south. Have some final boat repairs done tomorrow and provisioning.
See you out there!!!
