Serious ballet training should be demanding.

It should require discipline.
It should expect focus.
It should challenge a dancer to become more than she thought she could be.

But demanding does not have to mean demeaning.

A dancer can be corrected without being diminished.
She can be held accountable without being humiliated.
She can be challenged while still knowing that the teacher standing in front of her believes in her.

There is a difference between offering ballet and building an entire school around it.

For 33 years, North Central Ballet has devoted itself exclusively to the training, artistry and traditions of classical ballet.

That means a child’s first plié is not taught as an isolated step. It is the beginning of a carefully developed progression—placement, musicality, strength, coordination, artistry and technique built year after year.

It means pointe work is earned through preparation.

It means advanced dancers study classical repertoire and experience substantial theatrical productions.
