Not to escape anything, but because I don't want to miss the ordinary Tuesday afternoons, the funny stories, and the questions that come out of nowhere. Years from now, I won't wish we'd had less time together. I'll just be grateful for every ordinary day.

Pray for Pope Leo 🙏

Pope Leo XIV underwent a 90-minute surgery to remove a lung nodule on Oct. 13 which confirmed a diagnosis of lung cancer, the Vatican has announced.

Dr. Stefano Margaritora, the hospital's chief thoracic surgeon, led a medical team in the video- assisted technique operation. In a joint statement with Dr. Luigi Carbone released at just before 10 p.m. Rome time, the doctors said that the "examination confirmed the diagnosis of
lung adenocarcinoma, as suspected by the preoperative tests."

"The Holy Father was in the operating room for about 3 hours; the surgery itself lasted approximately 90 minutes," the statement said.
