Fossil Ridge Tennis

09/09/2026

Tonight didn’t go the way we wanted, as Ridge Tennis fell to Brewer 8–11.

We lost 4 of 5 third-set tiebreakers, and that’s what makes this one sting. This was a match that truly could have gone either way. But while we may not have gotten the result we wanted, I couldn’t be more proud of how this team competed and, even more importantly, how they carried themselves.

We take this loss, even though it hurts, knowing it will make us better. There is a lot to learn from tonight, and we’ll come back stronger because of it.

We may not win every match, but we will always compete with heart, represent Ridge with pride, and show sportsmanship, class, and dignity.

Very proud of this team. 🖤💛🎾

🏆 Players of the Game

Boys: Steven Le — won our only third-set tiebreaker and battled all the way through! 👏

Girls: Iliana Alfaro — won her match in straight sets with a strong performance! 👏

Congratulations, Steven and Iliana! We’re proud of you both!

🎾 Varsity Tennis Update! 🎾

I’m a little behind on getting these updates posted, so here’s a quick recap of the last two matches!

We took on Argyle and our Varsity team battled hard from start to finish. The team gave them everything we had, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as we fell 0–19. I’m proud of the fight and effort our players showed!

Last week, we faced Chisholm Trail High School, and the team played some really good tennis! We pushed them, competed hard, and gave them a run for their money, but unfortunately came up just short, losing the match 5–14.

That puts us at 4–5 overall and 0–3 in district. While the district record isn’t where we want it to be, the season is far from over! 💪

Our next three matches are extremely important. If we can win out, we still have a chance to earn a playoff spot! Every match, every point, and every game matters from here on out.

Let’s finish strong, keep fighting, and leave it all on the court! 🎾🔥

Let’s go, team! 🖤💛

Ridge Tennis District Play 🎾

District play got underway on 8/18 as Ridge Tennis took on Eagle Mountain High School. It wasn’t the result we were looking for, falling in a close 8–11 match.

The team battled hard from start to finish, and while we still have some things to work on, we’ll learn from this one and keep pushing forward.

🌟 Players of the Match 🌟

🎾 Girls Player of the Match: Scarlett Nguyen
Scarlett battled back after falling behind in her singles match and fought her way to an impressive comeback victory!

🎾 Boys Player of the Match: Evan Dietz
Evan fought back to tie his match and then sealed the win in a thrilling tiebreaker!

Way to battle, Scarlett and Evan! 💪🔥

We’re now 4–3 overall and 0–1 in district play. There’s plenty of tennis left to play—let’s keep working and come back stronger next week!

Go Ridge! 🎾🖤💛

A little behind on our updates, so here’s a quick catch-up!

On 8/6, we faced Denton Geyer. We battled hard but came up short, 1-18. We followed that up with a much closer match against L.D. Bell, falling 7-12. Those matches brought us to 2-2 on the season.

Players of the Game:
⭐ Steven Le
⭐ Rebecca Pintle

Then on 8/7, we got up early and made the trip to Sweetwater to take on Levelland. Despite playing without our No. 1 and No. 4 players, the team stepped up in a big way and brought home an 11-8 victory!

Players of the Game:
⭐ Callan Partain
⭐ Naiya Mounivong

10th Win
⭐️Aaron Raju

That puts us at 3-2 on the year.

Now we get two well-earned days off before returning to practice on Monday. We have one more preseason match next Thursday before we kick off the regular season.

I’m incredibly proud of the way this team competes and the way they handle both wins and losses. Their attitude, effort, and resilience continue to impress me. I couldn’t ask for a better group to coach.

Go Ridge! 🖤💛

What a great way to kick off the season!

Ridge Tennis opened the year with an 11-8 victory over Iowa Park to earn our first win of the season. Iowa Park competed hard from start to finish, and I was impressed with the resilience and determination our team showed to battle through and come out on top.

Here are the Players of the Week:

For the girls, Iliana Alfaro not only won her doubles match but also ran away with a strong singles victory.

For the boys, Gabriel Infante won both his singles and doubles matches and also secured our 10th win to lock in the team victory.

We’re excited to build on this momentum as we take on Central, Guyer, LD Bell, and Levelland next week.

Proud of this team and the way they started the season. Here’s to a great year ahead! 🎾💛🖤
