We're taking it all the way back to April 18, 1775 for today's ! Did you know that Paul Revere (you know, the guy famous for yelling, "The British are coming!") was also an amateur dentist? 🦷🧐

Contrary to popular legend, Revere did *not* fashion a set of wooden dentures for George Washington. (But that would have been cool!)

Yes: dental health is related to cardiovascular health! 🦷❤️

How? So glad you asked!

🦷 Periodontal disease (also referred to as "gum disease") happens when plaque -- a sticky, bacteria-laden film -- builds up around teeth.

❤️ The bacteria that cause periodontal disease can travel to blood vessels elsewhere in the body, where it can cause blood vessel inflammation and damage, as well as blood clots, leading to a possible heart attack!

🪥 So be sure to visit the dentist twice a year for regular check-ups! Your dental team can teach you ways to prevent periodontal disease, as well as check to ensure you're not displaying any signs of it!
