Join us for an evening of music at the studio. All friends of the studio are invited to stop by, play a piece, play a duet with a new friend, or just listen. If you play another instrument, bring it on over, we'd love to hear you!

RSVP not necessary, just stop in between 7pm and 9pm.

Please park on the street for night events so we can save the driveway for my neighbors, thanks!!

Piano Ensemble Starts Tuesday 9/8!

We're getting ready to start our 3rd round of Piano Ensemble. If you've ever thought about playing piano with others, this is your invitation!

Here are the details:

🎹 All players beginner to early advanced are welcome. YES, you are so encouraged to join us even if you just play a little, and even if you're not taking lessons here.
🎹. No fee for current members, $50 fee for non-members (includes all 5 rehearsals and Happy Hour).
🎹. Assigned parts will be easier than what you're currently working on, so rehearsals can focus on the togetherness of playing.
🎹We'll learn how to:
rehearse effectively
communicate musically
play expressively
stay together
and perform

5 Tuesday evening rehearsals begin on September 8 at 6:00 pm. Please be sure you can commit to all rehearsals and the Happy Hour Performance on Friday 10/9.

We believe that we learn better when we're having fun, so this ensemble class is low-pressure and lots of laughs!

By the ocean, by the lake, or on audiobook during the car rides in between, this book has been a delightful companion for these first weeks of summer!

Whole Notes by Ed Ayres is widely available on audiobook and it’s not too late to listen to it before our book club discussion on Saturday 7/25. You’re welcome to join us at the studio at 6:30!

When a student recommended this book to me, I popped in my earbuds, turned on the audiobook, and went for a walk. Within half a block I was laughing out loud, thinking more deeply about my own relationship with music, and appreciating the connections that all of us who learn music share with one another.

Here’s a clip of Jamie and Susan playing a four-hands version of Beethoven’s Rondo a Capriccio. I hit record a little early so you could get a glimpse into our monthly Piano Happy Hour.

We work hard preparing, but we never take ourselves too seriously. If we’re going to get up and share our music over and over again, we need to make it an enjoyable and achievable task. Laughter and silliness calms the nerves, allows us to connect, and lets our music shine through.

We’ll be offering Piano Ensemble Class again over the summer. Stay tuned for dates!
