Another amazing 2021 Wellness Changemaker, Jordan Marie Daniel.
Indigenous women are murdered at a rate 10 times higher than other ethnicities. So, in 2019, Jordan Marie Brings Three White Horses Daniel ran the Boston Marathon with a red handprint painted over her mouth to bring attention to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). Jordan said a prayer at each mile for a different woman who was silenced due to violence. Since then, Daniel has consistently continued to organize prayer runs—notably, she ran 30 miles on Truthsgiving this past November—to bring awareness and attention to MMIW and Black Lives Matter. Through her organization Rising Hearts, Daniel is continuing to push for intersectional racial, social, economic, and environmental justice. Weekly, she organizes an Indigenous Wellness Through Movement series to elevate Native voices and decolonize white-centered wellness.

Join Rising Hearts, Indigenous relatives & allies through movement as we connect with our bodies and learn what decolonizing wellness means and looks like.

The purpose of this program is to offer more accessible, virtual sessions every month for everyone to attend and to learn from Indigenous wellness instructors, allies, & advocates.

Together with friends and allies in the wellness community, we will share our voices and wellness practices.
Through these sessions - we hope to further continue building community and allyship.

Every session offers a donation-based option, to support the instructor, the program, website, and organizations they are a part of or support.

Reposted from check out the good work they are doing for social justice and conservation🌱💚from original post “Hey family! As you know, I’m passionate about creating things that get people excited about nature and science.

I’m also passionate about increasing representation, accessibility, and equity for BIPOC in the outdoors. There’s an endless number of ways to do this but they all start with centering our voices. I am honored to hold space to listen and learn from the work and experiences of some amazing people through the Trackers Fireside Chat series.

*Our next conversation will be with ornithologist, conservationist, and activist, Corina Newsome (). She is the Community Engagement Manager at Georgia Audubon, a Biology Master’s student at a Georgia Southern University and one of the organizers of Black Birders Week.*

Her recently published paper Bird versus fish: Nest flooding introduced predator prey interactions in Georgia’s coastal Marshes, details the first recorded instance of a fish depredating a hatchling bird while in the nest.

If you follow me then you can imagine what type of conversation we’re about to have. “ *Register at* https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScd7XLdyMR-5ucKCFWbSoYE2PMGL1QDZkZ5kJZOnIHOuuYB7Q/viewform

Join the Intersectional Environmentalist (IE) on April 24 at 1:30 PM EST for a day of facilitated discussions, panels + conversations led by environmental justice leaders + friends of IE to strengthen your understanding of climate justice history and unlearn shortsighted narratives about environmentalism.

Through this summit, IE hopes to show that an inclusive, systemic approach to environmentalism is achievable. Their programming will foster an exploration of nuanced perspectives + ensure that all voices are honored within each dialogue.

Hear from environmental justice activists, artists, organizers + members of the IE community who are paving the way towards authentic + holistic justice for all people. The Summit will bring the IE community to a common level of understanding + facilitate the unlearning of shortsighted narratives about environmentalism. We’ll be learning from + centering the communities that are acutely affected by the climate crisis, yet excluded from conversations within modern environmentalism.

Intersection is a lens through which you can see where power comes and collides, where it locks intersects. It is the acknowledgment that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and privilege. Intersectional environmentalism, a term largely inspired by Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw and her work with critical race theory, is an inclusive form of environmentalism that advocates for the protection of all people + the planet.

It identifies the ways in which injustices affecting marginalized communities + Mother Earth are interconnected. Intersectional Environmentalism not only acknowledges these links, but brings them to the forefront of environmental activism without minimizing or silencing overt + discreet forms of oppression.
