Join Extension foresters, Forest Society staff, and professional foresters for a hiking tour of the forestry demonstration area around the Marlboro Trail on Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH.

Participants will discover the methods foresters use to change how a forest is growing, learn about current threats to forest health and how this project is focused on growing a climate resilient forest and explore the effects of a century of sustainable forest management in this area.

UNH Extension and NH Division of Forests and Lands will discuss the impact of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) over the past 25 years in the Monadnock Region. Presenters will share the status of hemlock in the state, information about hemlock woolly adelgid, and efforts to control this forest pest in the state and beyond.

Professional licensing credits will be offered:

Professional Development Opportunity for Educators!

Join a network of fellow educators who are expanding food system literacy and nutrition education in New Hampshire! 4-H Farm to School Fellows (F2SF) use the Harvest of the Month curriculum to engage school students in grade K – 5 in food literacy and nutrition education that makes a lasting impact. Fellows also connect with peers through networking meetings, workshops, and presentation opportunities to broaden their own knowledge and support one another. Applications close September 1st.

This position is located at UNH Cooperative Extension’s Cheshire County office in Keene NH. As part of the UNH Extension natural resources team, the forestry field specialist conducts county‐based and statewide programming and provides Extension forest resources education and assistance to landowners, citizens, natural resource professionals, forest industry, community groups, volunteers, municipalities, and natural resource organizations.
