A tradition that marks a new beginning.

During CORE Week, our newest Knights took part in the Mizpah Walk, passing through the Mizpah Gate as they began their journey at Southwestern.

For generations of students, this moment has represented more than arriving on campus. It is a step into a new community, new friendships, and all the experiences that will shape their years at SWAU.

One day, they’ll walk through these gates with a Southwestern education behind them. For now, their journey is just beginning.

Leadership starts with connection.

The Come Rest A While Leaders (CRAWL) Retreat brought together our student leaders from Student Association, the Office of Student Success, and our RAs as they prepared to serve as leaders on campus.

CRAWL gave students time to build relationships, grow as leaders, and think intentionally about the role they will have on campus. Whether they are welcoming new students, planning experiences, or simply being there for a fellow student, their leadership helps make Southwestern feel like home.

We’re grateful for the students who choose to serve and help shape our campus community.

Preparing for a new academic year, together.

Throughout Colloquium, Southwestern faculty and staff came together for worship, professional development, collaboration, and fellowship as we prepare to welcome our students for the 2026–2027 academic year.

From conversations around academic excellence and student success to leadership development, enrollment, technology, and operational readiness, the week gave us opportunities to learn, reconnect, and prepare for the year ahead. A day at Group Dynamix also took us outside our usual spaces for team building, connection, and a little fun along the way.

Inspired by Psalm 34:8, this year’s theme, Taste & See, reminds us of God’s goodness and the purpose behind the work we do each day.

We’re grateful for the faculty and staff who make Southwestern a place where students can grow in Knowledge, Faith, and Service. Here’s to 2026–2027!
