Organization at its finest! Our 2nd graders have a dedicated spot to keep their food and water, with each student having their own little bin on this very organized cart. A big shout-out to our teachers for creating systems that keeps everything neat, accessible, and ready for the school day!

At Symonds, learning each other's names is off to a great start! The kids are wearing t-shirts with their names printed on them so classmates and teachers alike can get to know everyone a little faster. Here, they put those name tags to good use during a lively singing class with Mr. Siegel, filling the room with music and smiles.

Leanne and her husband moved to Keene at the end of July this summer, relocating from Dallas, Texas. She is starting her 16th year in her career, and what she loves most about her work is building relationships with students and watching them grow.

In her free time, Leanne enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring her new town. Her photo was taken on a trip to Italy, visiting the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.

Leanne is very excited to be in Keene and looks forward to getting to know her students, their families, and the community. Help us give her a warm welcome!

At Keene High School, every student is assigned to a “house” based on the first letter of their last name. Each house helps support students throughout their high school experience.

A big shout-out to our three House Administrative Assistants, who do so much of the heavy lifting behind the scenes! From helping students and families to keeping everything organized and running smoothly, their work is an essential part of the KHS community.

What happens when students learn the importance of clear and detailed procedures? Things can get a little messy!

Ms. Colton and Mrs. Reyes’ Physical Science class at Keene High School has been focusing on the scientific method as students begin planning their science fair projects. Since writing a clear procedure is an important part of the process, the class put their skills to the test with a hands-on activity.

Students were asked to write out the procedure for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and Mrs. Reyes followed their instructions exactly as written. The results quickly showed that even the simplest tasks require specific, detailed directions!

The fun continued as students attempted to follow one another’s procedures. It was a memorable and messy way to learn an important lesson about the scientific method and the importance of clear communication.

Life is busy in 2nd grade!

At Symonds School, our current 2nd graders are getting a glimpse of some of the wonderful memories made by last year’s class. Before the school year ended, students shared their favorite Symonds memories, which are now displayed on a bulletin board for incoming 2nd graders to enjoy.

A common favorite was the annual Symonds School Rock Swap, along with snow days in Raven’s Woods, science lab, the class play, and so much more. We love seeing the special moments that make our schools such memorable places to learn and grow!

Happy 30th work anniversary, Julie!

Julie's favorite part of teaching is meeting so many amazing students and their families, and watching students build confidence along the way. She feels blessed to work with an amazing third grade team at Fuller School, who make her job fun.

In her free time, Julie enjoys spending time with her daughter, Marin, and traveling.
