Did your provider tell you this before asking for your consent to administer it? Did they ask for consent at all (they usually don't!)?

If you're my client we talk about the risks associated with prophylactic pitocin post delivery and why you may want to refuse it unless you have a real problem. This is one of those reasons!

Did you know I offer virtual doula services?
Many of you write me to ask me questions and I am Happy to help and answer when and if I can.

It's different when you're my client! You get my immediate attention. You get all of my knowledge and understanding without hesitation. I'm available to you from the moment your deposit is paid for assistance, suggestions, calls, texts, emails etc.

Most importantly, my education was not free! Like every other business, I use my money to run my business, pay my bills, and support two small humans who depend on me! You pay your doctor to answer your questions (or your insurance does). You pay your teachers (taxes). You pay for your expert services....and Doulas are no different. This is not a hobby. I've dedicated an extensive amount of time, money, and effort into building my knowledge base in order to best serve my clients. If you wouldn't ask other professionals to work for you for free, don't ask a doula to work for free!

Want to learn how I predict your dilation in labor even though I don't do clinical procedures? This is a good list to get you started!

My stats: for my last two birthing people, I've accurately predicted their dilation to the charge nurse upon arrival at the triage center. I do not, and would never, perform an exam of any kind on my clients! (One was an 8, the other complete!)

What can you take from this? Cervical exams are rarely necessary to determine a labors progression! You can simply decline!

There isn’t a scale for birth trauma, whether it’s events that have occurred during the birth or diagnosis after the birth, there isn’t a scale. Trust your instincts and seek help if something doesn’t feel right. 💙💙💙
