Kathryn Davis
June 11, 1958 - August 17, 2026
Kathryn Joan Davis (Harms), 68, of Omaha, passed away August 17, 2026. Born June 11, 1958, in Minden, Nebraska, and raised in Kearney, she graduated from Kearney High School in 1976.
Kathryn had a long career as a Market Manager at Sam's Club, first in Grand Island and later in Omaha, where she moved in 2006. In her 50s, she retired to care for her mother, Lovena.
Kathryn loved finding new recipes, treating them more as inspiration than rules to follow. She never feared cooking "a little extra," saying, "You can always freeze it."
She relished adventure, from hiking Machu Picchu, solo trips to Mexico and Uruguay, and countless road trips with her husband. A devoted animal lover, she shared her life with her furry family, including dachshunds Peanut, Bella, and Izzy, and family dogs Snickers, Nikki, and Barney.
Faith and community were central to her. She was part of St. Leo's Parish in Grand Island, then St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Love Church, and finally City Light Church in Omaha, cherishing Bible study and close friendships at each.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Douglas Davis; son, Brandon Davis; sisters Shirley (Lou) Dirks and Sandra (Ron) Blank; and brother Lindell Harms. Preceded in death by her parents, Fred Harms and Lovena (Kruse) Crouse, stepfather Melvin Crouse, and brother Keith Harms.
Kathryn shared in a letter, "I loved life and I love all of you!" and asked that "everyone put a smile on their face and remember me with a smile on mine."
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Citylight Church West, Omaha. Full details are at bit.ly/KathrynDavis.
