Dr. Haiwei Lu recently featured in a Women in STEM article about her and her work surrounding plant science.

“I feel that it’s very helpful to catch what we are doing here in the lab for the public, because adamantly I want people to realize that plants play a very important role in terms of not only food, but also medicine and a lot of other things. So hopefully this article can help inspire more younger generations to actually get engaged in plant science.” - Dr. Haiwei Lu

Caleb Rother spent the past year writing, directing, and producing his student made short film, Those Who Did Not Die. Last night, he had a free showing of his film at the World Theater. The event showcased all of the hard work he and his crew put in to making this project come to life.

“It is an incredible honor, an incredible experience, to have been able to have the support I’ve had to make this film a reality. And not only make it, but also show it in theaters here, is truly an honor, because this is a team of people I could not pay. And a team of students who are willing to donate their time and talents to create something. And I’m so so grateful to them for being able to do that. And it’s just an honor to be in the position I am in.” - Caleb Rother

Congratulations Dr. David Vail for receiving a Ron and Carol Cope professorship. Thank you for all of your hard work on campus! 🎉

"I'm beyond honored to receive this professorship here at UNK. UNK has been my home for the last 10 years. I love teaching here. The scholarship in the region and in the state is really important work that we're doing on campus across the board. To receive this honor from Ron and Carol Cope means the world to me."

"I want to just express my gratitude to my students first. Their ideas and support and what we have in the classroom is really special here at UNK and I really appreciate that."

"My colleagues in history and across campus also have been really supportive over the last ten years to help me try to do wonderful teaching and scholarship work here and service, so really grateful."

"Finally just, Ron and Carol Cope. Thanks to them for creating these types of supports for faculty like me. People that maybe we never got to meet but they were supportive, nonetheless, so I just want to say thank you. I'm truly honored, and it's great to be working here. Go Lopers."
