Aloha Families

We are asking for your kokua! Our senior class is still in need of flowers and foliage to decorate for graduation.

The following items are being requested:
**Stalks of ti leaf
**Large flowers to assemble large arrangments such as ginger, birds of paradise & heliconia
**Greenery to be used in large arrangements
**Plumeria-if possible, strung in 10' lengths

Volunteers are also needed to help with setup on Friday, May 22 3:00-7:00 PM Football Field.

All greenery and flowers should be brought to the main office area on Friday by 2:00 p.m.

If you bring your donation after 2 p.m., please bring them to the lower Kau gate of the football field.

Here are the quick highlights:
🌟 Welcome Back, Principal Akeo! We are thrilled to announce that Principal Akeo returns from medical leave this Monday, May 18! 💚
🎓 Senior Week & Obligations: It's officially Senior Week! Seniors must report to the courtyard between the gym and pool by 9:15 AM this Monday to clear all outstanding obligations. Senior Awards Night is also this Monday at Kona Hongwanji Mission (Doors open at 5 PM).
🏗️ CAMPUS REOPENING: Phase 1 repairs are completely on track for the May 31 deadline. We are officially set to fully reopen the campus for the start of the 2026/2027 school year! 🎉
💝 Donation Appreciation: A heartfelt thank you to our Alumni, past leaders, coaches, and community members who have donated to our recovery. Admin is designing a plan to ensure these funds directly support our students and staff.
📝 Academics & Testing:
SBA Testing (Juniors): Monday–Wednesday (Report to cafeteria by 8:30 AM).
Biology EOC Testing: Thursday & Friday (Report to cafeteria by 8:30 AM).
Summer School: Dates are set for June 8 – July 17. Check the video for strict attendance policies!
🏆 STATE TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS: Our Wildcats absolutely dominated at the state level!
Boys Volleyball: Placed 6th in the State (Division 1)!
Girls Flag Football: Tied for 7th in the State during their incredible inaugural season!
Track & Field: Our girls placed 6th in the state (Violet took 1st in the 100m & 200m!). Our boys tied for 4th in the state, featuring a historic moment where Paxton took 1st in the 400m for the first time in school history (and his brother Aden took 3rd!). Plus, our boys won BOTH the 4x1 and 4x4 state relay titles! 🥇🏃💨

🏗️ Facilities & Campus Updates

Room Occupancy: Updates on room occupancy clearances and furniture replacement.

Student Lockers: Lockers will be cleaned out over the summer once construction is finished. We will schedule a pickup day for students to retrieve their items.

Seniors: If you have items in your locker that could be considered a graduation obligation, please call the main office for support immediately.

🎓 Graduation & Teacher Appreciation

Grad Meeting: If you missed the recent graduation meeting, don't worry! Grade level chairs will be sending out the Google Slides and a recording of the session.

Teacher Appreciation: We just wrapped up an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week. Mahalo nui to our teachers for all you do, and mahalo piha to our PCNC, Richelle Tagawa, and the community for the generous donations that made our staff feel so loved.

📅 Important Dates & Testing

May 13 (Wednesday): No School for students (Staff PD Day).

Hiring Blitz: Wednesday, May 13 - Students in grades 10–12 are encouraged to attend the Hiring Blitz at Hongwanji (9:45 AM – 12:45 PM; open to the public 12:45 PM – 1:45 PM). Testing: AP testing is going well and continues next week. SBA and Biology EOC testing will take place the week of May 18. 🏆 Athletics: BIIF CHAMPIONS!

It is a huge week for Wildcat sports!

Volleyball & Flag Football: A massive congratulations to our BIIF Champions! Boys Volleyball heads to States on Wednesday (May 13), and Girls Flag Football heads to States on Thursday (May 14).

Judo: 6 athletes are competing in the State Championship this weekend.

Track: Good luck to our team heading to the BIIF Championship meet at Kamehameha this weekend.

Please note that the DOE and State of Hawaii are fully funding the facilities repairs and we are in the process of filing the massive insurance claim for all of the assets that were damaged. However, this process takes time. If you are interested in helping cover immediate costs, please feel free to donate, but do not feel obligated to. This opportunity is for the many community members who have expressed an interest in supporting.
