We are located in Kaysville Utah and are dedicated to recreation, education and innovation. Come visit! Grounds are open from dawn to dusk, 7 days a week.

The Utah State University Botanical Center brings together recreation, education and innovation to promote and demonstrate wise use of natural resources. Guests enjoy workshops and classes, visiting the gardens, fishing the ponds, and walking the trails. The Utah House is open for general visitation Monday through Friday, 1 - 5 p.m. Please call to schedule group tours. Facebook Comment Policy

Plant Quiz Time! ✨️

Brilliant orange-red, trumpet-shaped flowers bring a burst of color to the landscape just when many summer blooms are beginning to fade. The flowers are especially irresistible to hummingbirds, while the low arching form gives this plant, a relaxed, almost cascading groundcover appearance.

A Utah native built for sunny, dry conditions, this tough perennial thrives in well-drained soils and can keep blooming from summer well into fall. It may be small in stature, but its color and wildlife appeal make a big impression.

Its currently blooming out front of our education center, so keep an eye out on your next visit.

Plant Spotlight! ✨️ 'Millenium' Ornamental Onion (Allium hybrid)

Many alliums put on a show in spring, but 'Millenium' brings its long-lasting display to the garden in mid to late summer. Its rounded clusters of fragrant, rosy-purple flowers rise above tidy, grass-like foliage and provide valuable late-season color when many other flowers have already faded.

These features, along with its drought resilience, make 'Millenium' an excellent choice for adding summer blooms to Utah landscapes. Plus, pollinators love it!

Farmington Utah Rotary kicks off the opening day of our Scarecrow Festival with a costume-friendly, fall-festive 5K run right here at the Botanical Center. Come for the run, stay for food trucks, live music, a kids' area, and the scarecrow displays!

Plant Quiz Time! ✨️

Tall spikes of tubular flowers rise above aromatic, textured foliage, bringing a burst of color during the 'dog days' of summer and attracting bees, butterflies, and especially hummingbirds. Crush the leaves, and you'll likely be greeted with a refreshing minty/herbal fragrance.

This sun-loving perennial thrives in heat and tolerates drought once established. Its upright form adds height and movement to boarders, pollinator gardens, and waterwise landscapes, while its long bloom season keeps the color coming.

Plant Spotlight! ✨️

Desert Willow 'Bubba' (Chilopsis linearis)

Don't let the name fool you—Desert Willow isn't a true willow. This heat-loving ornamental tree is prized for its large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom throughout summer, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

With its lush appearance and bright pink blooms, it brings a tropical vibe to the landscape without needing tropical conditions. Thriving in full sun and requiring very little water once established, this fast-growing shrub is an excellent choice for adding resilience with standout color to any water-wise garden.
