When ya know a beating might come!

It seems time flies so quickly when you reflect on memories.

The late Professor Presas was an amazing yet complex person.

We shared many values and personal challenges, Independence and a serious streak of pride and steadfastness.

Within the 20 + years of friendship our personalities clashed more than once, surely not as severe as political drama gossip would offer.

In all honesty I undoubtedly expected more from him than he could share. The professor was loving, caring, sharing, sometimes reclusive, and also guarded, he truly had his personal reasons for abrupt changes in his favoritism.

Professionally he rarely skipped a beat, his elusiveness was that of a magician; yet when he stepped onto the floor, he was right there!

Professor Remy was a performer, a high intensity artist in strategic movement as well as a master of conflict resolution and emotional evasion. Defensive strategies he perfected through his tremulous life cycles; complex puzzles few were exposed to.

Time never changed our internal bond, we had our anger as well as compassion, in reflection the best thing I did was reunite with him years prior to his passing, we were good friends and respected each other’s independence.

I still recall, I appeared unannounced at a seminar,,, walked directly in front of him,, dropped to one knee and lowered my head,,,

(it was chopping block time!)

Professor said "No, no, get up, you are Datu,,, I am not mad at you,,, well, I was, I was pi**ed, but I am not now,,, you are here,, you did it all on your own,, not on my coattails! I am proud of your accomplishments, the others are just chasing your tail, no one can touch you!"

Professor treated and groomed me as a leader not a student, it was a total surprise to me to be appointed Datu of Modern Arnis and I surely had my struggles to contend with politically as well as personally.

Lots of racial negativity, "A white boy?" Promoted to Datu? How dare him!,,,

I didn't promote myself and I wasn't accustom to abusive keyboard masters talking s**t from 1,000 miles away,,

That was 1988, imagine all these years and none of the bad ass s**t talkers have ever rolled up on me,,

I like to believe I earned a little respect and credibility through sacrifice, perseverance, and self-realization,,,

Anyway, that content was a little blast from the past,, maybe you'll enjoy the content,, maybe ya won't, but I did take the time to write it,, that's part of the arts, documenting the past,,,,

That's the way it goes, can't change history, so "p**s 'n moan, or grow a pair...
