🎃🌳 This isn't your typical Trunk-or-Treat... we're taking it to the TRUNKS OF THE TREES! 🌳🎃
We're so excited to be one of the community partners participating in this year's USU BOOtanical Trunk-or-Treat! Instead of a parking lot, you'll find us tucked among the trees at the arboretum, ready to hand out treats and goodies as you wander the path.
Expect enchanted, slightly spooky (but not scary!) trees dressed up for the occasion and fun for all ages.
Come in costume! Kids, adults, and friendly leashed pets are welcome.
The best part? It's FREE! We encourage you to register ahead of time so we can plan for plenty of treats for everyone. Sign up at spooky-week-usubootanical.eventbrite.com

Trunk or Treaters are not required to sign up, but we are encouraging registration to better anticipate numbers. Trunk or Treat 'tickets' can be found at https://spooky-week-usubootanical.eventbrite.com along with a handful of other events we'll be hosting throughout that week.

Tip #5 Know when to upgrade your child's car seat:

● Max Limits: Keep your child in their current seat until they reach the maximum weight or height limit.

● Check the Labels: Read your seat's stickers to know when it's time to switch from rear-facing to forward-facing, or to a booster.

Tip #4 Is your car seat installed securely? Try the 1-inch test:

● Lock the Belt: Pull the seatbelt all the way out until it clicks to engage the lock, then tighten it up.

● Check Wiggle Room: Grab the seat at the belt path with your non-dominant hand. It shouldn't move more than one inch in any direction.

Tip #3 Keep your child rear-facing as long as possible:

● Protect the Spine: Rear-facing supports heavy heads and protects the neck and spine during a crash.

● Wait it Out: Keep them rear-facing until at least age two, or until they reach the seat's maximum weight limit.

Tip #2 Keep your child secure with two essential car seat checks:

● Chest Clip: Position at armpit level on the hard part of the chest, avoiding the stomach.

● Pinch Test: If you can pinch the harness webbing, the straps are too loose.

TIP #1 Always use the top tether on forward-facing car seats:

● Anchor It: Secure the tether strap directly to the marked anchor point in your vehicle.

● Prevent Injury: The tether reduces forward motion in a crash, stopping your child's head from striking the vehicle's interior.

🏡 Home Visiting Program
Now enrolling pregnant families and families with children ages 0–3 throughout Davis County. Receive personalized weekly visits, fun learning activities, parenting support, and resources.

🎒 Center-Based Preschool
Openings are available for children ages 3–5 in the Sunset, Layton, and Bountiful areas for families who qualify.



At Davis Head Start, we partner with families to build school readiness, strengthen parent-child relationships, and support healthy growth and development.
