Remembering Two Special Members of Our Texas 4-H Horse Family

Last night during the Texas State 4-H Horse Show Appreciation Ceremony, we took time to honor and remember Earl Harris and Jennifer Dickerson, two individuals whose contributions to the Texas 4-H Horse Program continue to leave a lasting impact.

Earl and Jennifer dedicated countless hours to supporting youth, volunteers, and fellow horse enthusiasts. Their commitment, leadership, and willingness to serve helped shape the experiences of many 4-H members across the state and strengthened the Texas State 4-H Horse Show for years to come.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Earl Harris Memorial Scholarship Quilt, handcrafted by the Kaufman County 4-H Quilters.

Thank you to Earl's family, Jennifer's family, friends, volunteers, donors, and everyone who helped make the tribute so meaningful.

Reminder- tomorrow is hay show drop off day! Extension office 4-7 pm.

Hay season is in full swing, and that means it’s the perfect time to collect your samples for the upcoming Mineola Hay Show!

🌾 It’s easy — just fill a feed sack with a portion of your current cutting. That’s all it takes!

🔁 Have multiple fields or cuttings? Send in samples from each! You can enter as many as you’d like. The more you test, the more you know.

🔬 Each sample will be sent to the lab to analyze its nutritive value, helping you improve forage quality and make the most of your hay.
