TODAY IS THE DAY, KATY FFA!!
It’s our FIRST meeting of the year!!
I’m Iris Figueroa, your 2026–2027 Katy FFA President, and I am more than honored to be a part of this chapter that I am lucky enough to call my second family.
I’m a senior, making this my fourth and final year in this organization. This year will also be my second year as an officer—from serving as your Katy FFA Treasurer and NorthBEST District Reporter to now serving as your PLACE TO BE, Area 3 Vice President!! Being able to give back not only to my chapter but also to our area association has given me countless friendships, unforgettable memories, and experiences that feed my soul and remind me why I keep coming back to this organization.
My passion for FFA began in the fall with LDE season. I have competed on both our Junior and Senior Chapter Conducting teams, placing 3rd in the state this past season. Throughout the years, it hasn’t been the number on our banner that has meant the most to me. It’s the late-night practices, the hard work, the countless laughs, and the people beside me that remind me why I love this team so much.
I’ve also been a loyal plant nerd since my freshman year, competing on our Nursery/Landscaping team. This past spring, we placed 2nd in the state, and we’re hoping to bring home the win for Katy FFA this year! When it comes to livestock, I’ve raised lambs for the Katy Livestock Show and Rodeo since my freshman year. Last year, I decided to expand my experience and raise pigs for the Fort Bend County Fair—and I currently have my second pig in the barn right now!

To every greenhand and returning member: don’t let the fear of embarrassment hold you back from your potential. Step outside of your comfort zone. Try that new event. Experience failure. Make mistakes. Embrace the uncomfortable moments. These are the experiences that push us to grow, teach us lessons we wouldn’t learn otherwise, and prepare us for something even greater.
And don’t be afraid to talk to someone new!
It’s easy to become friends with the loudest and most extroverted person in the room. But sometimes, the most meaningful connections come from taking that extra step to talk to someone who doesn’t fit that persona. You never know the impact you may make—or what you might learn—simply because you took the time to get to know someone.
So, Katy FFA, as we start this new year, try something new, meet someone new, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Your biggest opportunity might be waiting just outside of your comfort zone. I can’t wait to see new and familiar faces tonight and what impacts, new memories, and new friendships arise from this year!

THERE IS ONLY ONE DAY UNTIL THE FIRST KATY FFA MEETING!!!

Hey everyone!! My name is Jillian Griffith and I’m so honored to serve as your 2026-27 Vice President. I am a senior this year and this is my fourth and final year in FFA. I could not be more excited to see what this year has to offer.

Let me introduce myself a bit to all of y’all! I have competed in multiple LDEs like Jr. Chapter Conducting as well as Senior Creed speaking. I hope to compete in Ag Advocacy this fall. For CDE season I have competed on the Poultry Evaluation team for the last 3 years. When it comes to SAEs I raised chickens my freshman year then moved to Swine. I have raised 4 pigs and am showing my 5th this September at the county show! Although I never imagined participating in these events, they have truly been the highlight of the last four years for me.

If I had any advice for greenhands it would be to try something outside of your comfort zone. I’ve been truly blessed to experience the friendships, knowledge and community that FFA holds and I recommend taking in every opportunity that comes your way. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store. Let’s make it the best Katy FFA!!!

Hey Katy FFA!! I’m Randi Quintana and I’m so so excited to be serving as your 2026-2027 Secretary!! I’m a junior and it’s my third year getting to be a part of FFA! I love this organization and I can’t wait for this year of service! I’m so excited to meet yall and let’s make this the BEST year yet!

For my LDE I competed on both Junior and Senior Chapter Conducting. I love LDE season so much and I cant wait to compete again this year! For my CDE I’ve competed on Poultry Judging for the past 2 years and I also competed on Cotton Judging my freshman year. I also raise chickens for KLSR for my SAE. All of these opportunities have taught me so many important lessons and have truly changed me as a person!

I cannot wait to get to know all of yall this year so we can all grow together! God has blessed me so much during my time in this organization and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for this year!!

HOWDY THERE KATY FFA!! THERE ARE ONLY 4 DAYS UNTIL OUR FIRST MEETING! My name is Addison Hasemann and I am absolutely THRILLED to be serving as your 2026-2027 Katy FFA treasurer. This is my first year serving as an officer for our chapter, as well as the NorthWest District! I am currently a Junior and it is my third year participating as an active member in our chapter.

For LDEs, I tried my hand at Ag Issues this past year and absolutely fell in love with it! We managed to snag a first place spot in our heat on the first day of state and secured 4th place in the state on the second day. Ag Issues has taught me so much about the positives and negatives of modern agriculture, and I hope to learn so much more!

For my CDE, I’ve competed on the Nursery/Landscaping team and have found such a passion for the industry. My freshman year, we took second place at state and I managed to place 20th individually. As for my sophomore year, we placed second at state again and I took the 19th place spot individually. This year, we’re going to be working our absolute hardest to sn**ch that first place spot!!

As far as SAEs go, I raised rabbits my freshman year and wasn’t as successful as I hoped I would be, but my sophomore year I switched over to raising goats and found it to be a much better suit for me. I placed 11th in my class and got a showmanship call back as a first year goat raiser! I will be raising a goat again this year and am so excited to see what this year might have in store for me!!

I truly cannot express how grateful I am for this amazing organization, our trusty advisors, and the amazing people that fill our chapter! Being a member of Katy FFA is something that I will forever take pride in. Katy FFA has been one of the greatest blessings in my life, so I hope I’m able to instill the same passion I have for this organization into others!

HOWDY Y’ALL!!!! WE HAVE 4 MORE DAYS TILL THE 1ST FFA MEETING!!! I’m Morgan Farnsworth and your 2026-2027 Katy FFA Reporter. This is my fourth year being a part of our chapter, and I can’t wait to make it the BEST ONE EVER! Over the years, Katy FFA has become my happy place, and I am so excited to help it become yours too.

I raise Broilers for my SAE at both the Katy Livestock Show and the Waller County Fair. As of right now, I am currently raising a pen of broilers for the Texas State Fair. Although I have not been raising for very long, I have been fortunate enough to win Grand Showman at the Waller County Fair and Grand Champion at the Katy Livestock Show last year. Through these experiences, I have learned the importance of hard work and dedication to your animals.

I have been a part of the Poultry Judging team all throughout my high school years and was even part of the State team this past year. I owe all my success to Mr. Price and the Poultry Judging team because without them I would not have decided to major in Poultry Science at Texas A&M after High School. During LDE season, I compete on the Senior Quiz team. Last Fall we were able to make the top three teams at State. In my freshman and sophomore years, I did Creed Speaking instead. When I was competing in freshman year, I was able to achieve top 9th in the State. These events have taught me how to be comfortable with public speaking as well as good study skills that have helped me with my schoolwork and other aspects of my life.

Katy FFA has allowed me to grow into the person I am today. The people, Ag teachers, and experiences will be things I will remember for the rest of my life. I am sad that this is my last year with Katy FFA, but I am so thrilled for what it has in store for all of us!

HEY KATY FFA! THERE ARE ONLY 5 DAYS UNTIL THE FIRST FFA MEETING! My name is Andres Medina, and I am so excited to be serving as your 2026-2027 Katy FFA Sentinel! I am a senior, and this is my fourth year of having the privilege of being part of Katy FFA. I am looking forward to a wonderful year, and I’d like to share a little bit about myself.
In the FFA, I have had many positive and fun experiences. For my LDE, I participate on the Senior Chapter Conducting Team, and our team placed 3rd at state this year. For my CDE, I participate on the Meat Judging Team, and our team placed 1st at state, and I placed 8th high individually at the state contest. For my SAE, I raise steers, and I’ve shown goats in previous years. I have two steers currently and can’t wait to show them. I also participate on the shooting team, which has helped me learn how to shoot s***t and trap, along with other techniques. Since we won State, our team is getting ready for the national contest in October to bring home the title for Texas! Outside of the FFA, I am the Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta and an officer for NHS.
Some advice that I would give to underclassmen would definitely be to get involved. Get involved in all of the activities that you can within the FFA, even if you feel you don’t want to do it, because the FFA has something for everyone. You don’t want to live with regret, so do all you can and get involved as much as possible, as the FFA can teach you many things.
In my final year, I want to work even harder for my continued success while positioning you for a bright and successful FFA experience. I can’t wait to meet each and everyone of you, and together, let’s make 2026-2027 the best FFA year yet!

WHAT’S UP, KATY FFA?! THERE ARE ONLY 6 MORE DAYS TILL OUR 1ST FFA MEETING!!

My name is Riley Vodehnal, and I am SO excited to be serving as your Student Advisor this year! This is my third year in FFA and my first year as an officer, and I couldn’t be more excited for everything this year has in store. FFA has become such a huge part of my life, and I can’t wait to make this year one filled with new memories, opportunities, and friendships!

For my SAE, I raise and show pigs! I’ve been showing pigs since I was nine and throughout the years, I’ve shown at FBCF, HLSR, and KLSR. But, this year I’ll be showing at the Waller County Fair! Last year, I was fortunate enough to have the Reserve Champion Pig at the Fort Bend County Fair, and the year before that, I had the Grand Champion Pig there! Showing livestock has taught me so much and is definitely one of my favorite parts of FFA!

For my CDE, I compete in Livestock Judging! This past winter, our team had the opportunity to travel to Denver for Western National Roundup, which was such an amazing experience. I also compete in Ag Issues for my LDE, and I absolutely love getting to research, learn, and compete with my team!

I’m so thankful for everything FFA has given me so far and for all the opportunities and memories that have come with it. I’m so excited to give back to the organization that has given me so much and make the most of my first year as an officer. I can’t wait to see what this year brings and make some amazing memories along the way!

THERE ARE 7 DAYS UNTIL THE FIRST KATY FFA MEETING!!!!

Hey Katy FFA! I’m Avery Peltier and I am so excited to be serving as your 2026-2027 Katy FFA Parliamentarian! I am a senior, and this is my fourth and final year being in Katy FFA. I am so excited for all that’s to come during this year!!!

I have learned so much from competing on different teams in FFA. For LDEs, I compete on the Ag Skills team where we placed 3rd at state last year. For CDEs, during my freshman and sophomore year I competed on the Floral Team. My team and I won state and went to nationals, where we placed 4th as a team and I placed 3rd individual. This past year I competed on the Wildlife Team, and I plan to compete for wildlife next year. For my SAE I have raised sheep since my sophomore year, and it has become my favorite part of FFA. I have raised 2 sheep for the Katy ISD show, where I won Grand Champion this past year! I have also raised one sheep for the Fort Bend County Fair, and am currently raising another one.

Being in FFA has impacted me in so many different ways, and I am so excited to see what’s in store for this year! I can’t wait to meet everyone next Tuesday at the first Katy FFA meeting!!!
