Summer is underway for most students.

Amidst vacations, trips to water parks, visits to grandparents, camps, and all the other exciting activities summer has to offer, it's a great time to intertwine fun literacy projects to sharpen the skills of your young readers.

These types of activities foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love for reading, all of which are essential for writing engaging scholarship essays.

By encouraging children to explore different genres and express their thoughts through related projects, they develop a richer vocabulary and the ability to articulate their ideas more effectively.

Here are three engaging examples to incorporate reading into summer break for young readers:

Themed Reading Challenges:
Create a summer reading challenge with fun themes each week, such as "Under the Sea," "Space Adventures," or "Mystery Week."

Encourage kids to read books related to the theme and track their progress with a colorful chart. Offer small rewards or a celebratory event at the end of the summer for completing the challenge.

Storytelling Picnics:
Organize storytelling picnics in the park or the backyard. Have children bring their favorite books, read aloud to each other, and discuss the stories.

Incorporate activities related to the books, such as drawing scenes or acting out parts of the story, to make the experience interactive and enjoyable.

Summer Reading Vision Board:
Create a summer reading vision board that includes different activities for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

This can involve setting goals, planning book-related activities, and incorporating diverse literacy experiences.

This approach not only makes reading fun but also engages children in a comprehensive literacy program that enhances their overall communication skills.

With these creative activities, you can ensure your child continues to develop their literacy skills while enjoying all the fun that summer has to offer.

Sticky Note Wisdom From The Scholarship Lady----

1. Embrace the mental challenge: Scholarship hunting is a marathon, not a sprint. It tests your perseverance and mental determination. Stay resilient through the highs and lows.

2. Commit fully: Success in scholarship hunting requires wholehearted dedication. Approach it with the same level of commitment you would give to a job or important project.

3. Accept rejection gracefully: Rejection is expected, but it's not a reflection of your worth. Learn from setbacks and use them as steps toward future success.

4. Treat it like a professional venture: Dedicate focused time and effort to your scholarship search. Approach it with professionalism and discipline, as you would with any job.

5. Take ownership of your journey: While guidance is valuable, remember that you're the captain of your scholarship ship. Be proactive, seek opportunities, and drive your success.

6. Believe in your abilities: You possess all the necessary tools for success. Cultivate confidence in yourself and your capabilities throughout the scholarship-hunting process.

Bonus Tip
Start NOW: Start your scholarship journey anytime. Whether you're in elementary, high school, college, or returning to learning, take the first step and make it happen.
