After 19 years of hugs, shakas, and morning high fives, Ms. Tiny Chuberko is retiring! 💙💛

As a kindergarten teacher's assistant, she's been one of the first smiling faces our youngest Navigators see each morning, and a steady, aloha-filled presence for two generations of her own family at IPA.

Congratulations, Ms. Tiny! Mahalo nui for 19 years of showing our keiki they are seen, heard, and loved. A hui hou, and mālama pono 🌺

Mamma Mia! The Musical was a big production with nearly 200 students involved, two packed nights at The Leeward Theatre, and a floor-to-rafters Mamma Mia! sign dropping down for the finale to a standing ovation.

But behind all of that was another story about mentorship, what it means to give students real creative ownership, and an alum who came back from Broadway to be part of it.

Navigator Alumni Spotlight 🔦

Jonah Bobilin '17 traveled back from New York City this spring to work with our students on Mamma Mia! and it was amazing to have him here.

He's been working professionally in theatre, including as Associate Lighting Designer on a Tony Award-winning Broadway production, and traces it back to his time doing theatre at IPA in middle and upper school.

"A lot of programs don't give students the opportunity to make real creative decisions early on, but IPA does. That freedom to design and collaborate is something that stayed with me."

They built a two-story Greek village in a warehouse. A Broadway lighting designer came home to run the lights. 200 students brought IPA's first-ever full-length musical to life on one of Oʻahu's biggest stages. to Mamma Mia! — and the theater program that made it all possible.
