City & County Lifeguard Tryouts!

The City & County will be having its annual physical performance testing for full- or part-time employment opportunities and even on-call beach lifeguards.

Registration and tryouts will take place at Ala Moana Beach Park behind Tower 1B at 8 a.m. June 8-9.

Be ready as the test includes 1,000 - yard run and 1,000 - yard swim, which need to be completed in 25 minutes. Then it's the 400 - yard rescue board paddle that must be finished in under 4 minutes. The last one is what many claim to be the toughest: a run-swim-run - 100 yards each length in under 3 minutes.

The American Job Center is hosting a Youth Job Fair on October 19th, 2017 from 10am – 2pm. The Job Fair will feature vendors from all sectors of business from retail to food service (i.e. HMS host, Jamba Juice, YMCA, etc). Many of the vendors will be conducting in person interviews and on-site hiring. This is a perfect opportunity for the youth to connect with potential future employers. The event is free and open to anyone in the community between the ages of 16 - 24 years old!

*Most positions are volunteer but some of the landscaping is paid work. This is a non-profit organization that follow a strict guideline from the trust on how the property is to be maintained. Thousands of species have been gathered from throughout the tropical world, through hundreds of field expeditions by staff and through collaborations with other institutions and researchers. Its living collections include the largest assemblages of native Hawaiian plant species and of breadfruit cultivars in existence. Tours of each of the gardens are available. Will work along-side scientists and botanists.
