Kaplan FFA had a great week at the State FFA Convention! Our students won awards, volunteered at the Alexandria Animal Shelter and made time for some team bonding.
Congratulations for the following awards:
STATE DEGREE RECIPIENTS, the highest award an FFA member can get while in high school: Charly Beth, Harley and Bryce
FIRST PLACE: Livestock Exhibition- Beef
FIRST PLACE: Agriscience Fair Divison 5- Harley (experiment on using worm compost to start seeds)
FIRST PLACE: Agriscience Fair Division 6- Charly Beth and Alyssa (experiment using copper to prevent the growth of algae in water troughs)
SECOND PLACE: Ag Mechanics- Aiden
SECOND PLACE: Dairy Production- Olivia
SUPERIOR CHAPTER- GOLD for overall Livestock Exhibition.

REMINDER! Spring vegetable plant sale next Saturday, April 13th! Lots of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, okra, and more ready to feed your family this summer ☀️
-All plants are $2 per plant with deals on whole flats
-At Kaplan High School behind the Ag Department (the back of the student parking lot)
-8 am- 4 pm (or until we sell out)
- Metal and wood working projects will also be available

The KHS Ag Department celebrated Louisiana Ag Week this afternoon! Everyone was invited outside to see staples of Louisiana agriculture. They were able to interact with cows, horses, chickens, tractors, a combine and even a drone! Thank you to all of our local farmers that brought equipment and supported this event💚

Kaplan FFA officers had a busy week celebrating FFA Week! They attended the Area III C**T Conference where learned leadership and teamwork, they watched our new baby chicks hatch after weeks of monitoring, and they gifted all of the teachers, administrators and support staff with treats that had ag facts to educate them about Louisiana Agriculture

Congratulations to the FFA/FCCLA Garden Cook Off participants! Our winning team was Coeyn Wise and Whitney Hebert with their spinach and kale casserole. The FCCLA team prepared a delicious spinach, kale and feta puff pastry. Thank you to Mrs. Katelyn Bares for allowing the students to use the FACS kitchen. We love collaborative events like this!
