Cookson Hills provides home, school, and therapy for kids who are at-risk. For many kids, Cookson Hills is their childhood home.

Since 1957, Cookson Hills has provided home, school, and therapy for kids who are at-risk. We are a children’s home in Northeast Oklahoma, serving kids ages 5-17 who want to write a better story for their lives and have experienced challenges with family life, homelessness, poor peer relationships, abuse, or neglect. Compelled by the love of Christ, our team works together to fulfill our vision –

to raise up healthy individuals who are empowered to positively impact future generations. For others it’s a temporary home for about two years. All kids come here to live within a family. They enroll in school, they learn, they play sports, they make friends, they help set the table, they laugh, they talk, they ride horses, they heal, and (we hope) they leave better than they came.

💪 Some heroes don't wear capes. They wear work gloves.

For three days the Central City Christian Church of Joplin, Missouri team poured into this campus, cleaning offices and houses, painting locker rooms and clearing landscaping. That's the church being the church, and we're so GRATEFUL!

Every clean space and fresh coat of paint helps make Cookson Hills a place where our kids can grow and thrive. Behind every project is a home that feels a little safer, brighter and more cared for.

Imagine losing your fortune... to a CAT🐱💰

Our drama students cracked the case in The Purrfect Crime, a comedy full of mystery, a scheming feline and enough twists to keep the laughs roaring.

THE BEST PART? Long before opening night, our students were memorizing lines, nailing cues, building real public speaking skills, and discovering gifts they didn't know they had. 🎬 Growth like THIS lasts long after the final bow, and we couldn't be prouder! 🎭

📚✨ A new school year has begun at Cookson Hills!

There’s something special about the first day of school—a fresh backpack, excited smiles, and the promise of new opportunities waiting inside the classroom.

For our students, a new school year means more than new classes. It means another year of encouragement, growth, healing, and discovering the unique gifts God has given them. Every lesson learned and every milestone reached is possible because caring people like you choose to invest in their future.

As our students settle into the new school year, there are still a few classroom essentials we need to help them succeed. Items like adult-size backpacks, facial tissues, sticky tack, cough drops, disinfecting wipes, and other classroom supplies help create an environment where our students can learn and thrive.

A few months ago, this home told a different story. The rooms showed years of faithful use and were ready for a fresh start. Look at them today!

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean, paint, and put furniture together. Friends purchased the things needed to refresh each room through our wish List. Together, they turned this home into a warm and welcoming place where children can just be kids.

This wasn't just a home renovation. It was a way of telling every child who walks through these doors, "You have value, and you matter to God." Because of your generosity, these children will come home to a place that has been lovingly prepared just for them. A place where a new beginning can take root.

We're partnering with the NWA Naturals for a very special evening, and we’d love for you to join us!

🎉 From Wishlist to Worksite—Because of You

Just a short time ago, we were celebrating an incredible milestone together. Every item on our Home Renewal Project wish list had been purchased.
Today, the work has officially begun.

Volunteers are already hard at work painting, building furniture, and preparing this home for the children who will soon live here. Walking through the house this week, it was exciting to see the project come to life. Little by little, this home is being renewed, ready to welcome the children who will soon call it home.

None of this would be happening without you.

Whether you purchased something from the wish list, gave financially, shared one of our posts, prayed for this project, or simply cheered us on, thank you. You helped turn an idea into something that's really happening.

This is the first of what we hope will eventually be twelve renewed children's homes. While we don't plan to create a public wish list for every home, we'd love for you to stay involved. Financial gifts to the Home Renewal Project will help us continue preparing homes for the children God brings to Cookson Hills.

Just a few weeks ago, this project existed only on paper. Today, volunteers are hard at work, and this home is being made even more welcoming for the children who will soon walk through the front door. That's happening because of you.

This summer, two of our students are experiencing camp in a whole new way.

Renee, a Cookson Hills graduate, and Kaylee, one of our rising seniors, are serving in the SOMA Leadership Development Program at New Life Ranch.

SOMA is the final level of New Life Ranch's leadership development journey, designed to help students move beyond simply learning about leadership and begin living it. Through mentorship, service, and hands-on responsibility, participants learn what it means to lead like Jesus by putting others first, serving with humility, and making a lasting impact on those around them.

Renee and Kaylee are helping younger campers have a safe, fun, and meaningful experience while continuing to grow in their own faith and leadership skills.

We are incredibly proud of the young women they are becoming. We are also grateful for the supporters who make opportunities like this possible. Your generosity helps provide experiences that build confidence, strengthen faith, and prepare students to become leaders in their families, churches, and communities.

At Cookson, the upcoming 11th and 12th graders have the opportunity to attend CIY. Between June 22 and 27, two students, along with their sponsors David and Lauri Green, attended CIY MOVE in Nacogdoches, TX. The CIY MOVE is a five-day event designed for high school students, aimed at helping them know Jesus better, grow in their faith, and discover their unique role in God’s Kingdom. The event combines dynamic worship, Bible teaching, small group discussions, and community-building activities to create a transformative experience for students.

This was the 11th Cookson group David and Lauri had taken to CIY, and their smallest. This year’s theme was Kingdom Workers, focusing on the book of Ephesians. Each day focused on a different aspect of Kingdom Workers - that they are Loved, Rescued, Changed, and Sent. In response to lots of prayer, encouragement, and teaching both before and during the event, both our students found the event very impactful and made public decisions to follow Jesus and become Kingdom workers. One of our students accepted Jesus as their Saviour, while the other dedicated her service as a Kingdom Worker. We are confident that God put together our small group for this time. We are so thankful for all the dedication and prayer that the staff at Cookson pour into these girls and all our students, to draw them to our Lord and Saviour.

Our Day Camp campers had an amazing week discovering God's love through adventure, friendship, and fun!

From pony rides and swimming to nature exploration, Bible study, arts and crafts, and camp games, every day was filled with opportunities to learn, play, and grow. Surrounded by caring counselors and new friends, our students explored God's creation while discovering the truth of the Gospel in ways they could understand and remember.

Some of our day campers even had our Tim Team Campers as their group leader. They had the chance to create bonds that will continue when they come back to campus.

Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible. Your generosity gave our campers a week filled with laughter, lasting memories, and a deeper understanding of just how much God loves them.
