National Distinguished Service Award recipient, Warren Stookey, passed away in 1990, His son has been so touched by the Fraternity members showing interest in his late father's 1974 award. He (a History major) has discussed this with his brother (an APO alumnus), and they have agreed to frame the award, and send it and other memorabilia to the National Office to be displayed and to inspire future members.

Cannot commit wall space at the N.O. of course, but am hopeful that we can find a nook somewhere for the award. Warren Stookey is an important member in our history.

So...if you can donate just a few dollars (I'd love to get at least ten more members contributing ($5-10 each) -- let's show our thanks and make sure we cover Mr. Stookey's award framing and shipping. Link to campaign in comments. Thanks, all.

Sad news.

It is with great sadness and profound respect that we recognize the passing of Past National President and the 1981 Fall Pledge Class Namesake Honoree Lawrence β€œPinky” L. Hirsch, MD, Beta Gamma ’40. While sometimes appearing as a maverick, challenging the status quo, he always held the principles and ideals of the Fraternity in high regard. "The time of year has come again for a card shower!

Please send this out far and wide around the world again - last year was a huge success!

Anne Horton-Ward, is the daughter of one of APO's founders and our first Scouting Advisor, Herbert G. Horton.

She is often alone in her little home wishing for company. She is an honorary APO member in a number of chapters, has attended national conventions, and has been a lifelong supporter of APO. In fact, she often refers to herself as an "APO orphan" because her father was away from home so much working with Scouting and APO! Now, she is lovingly referred to as everyone's "gramma" because of her happy smile and open arms to all.

Please help me flood her mailbox with Christmas cards again this year, and with birthday cards too as she will be turning the grand old age of 87 on December 29th!"

Today would mark Phyllis C. Tenny's 104th Birthday. She served Maine Maritime Academy and the Castine community for more than forty years through exemplary leadership, volunteerism, and community service. She was the Fall 1985 APO USA National Pledge Class Namesake -- the first woman so honored.

Mrs. Tenny brought Alpha Phi Omega to MMA in 1969; and she left her mark not only on Phi Epsilon but also the fraternity at the national level. "Mrs. T" truly embodied the three core principals of Alpha Phi Omega. Join our Brothers at Phi Epsilon in wishing her a very happy birthday.

A special thank you goes out to her and her hard work for making MMA, Castine, and the world a better place!

Brothers, we have GREAT NEWS! APO USA National President John K. Ottenad shares this announcement:

THANK YOU! I am pleased to announce that, because of the generosity of Alpha Phi Omega brothers and supporters, we have surpassed the $4.25 million goal of our Leaders in Service Campaign! As they are fulfilled over time, commitments from campaign donors will enable Alpha Phi Omega to engage more students on more campuses in performing acts of service and leadership that touch lives, create better communities and make the world a better place. Be on the lookout for details about this great accomplishment, but I couldn't wait to share this fantastic news. Congratulations to all who made this possible!

- Fraternally,
John K. Ottenad, APO National President
