Penelope and I had the opportunity to experience the Northland Ethnic Festival today, and it truly filled our hearts. There’s something so powerful about being surrounded by culture, community, and the stories that bring us all together.

We loved meeting so many incredible people, sharing conversations, and celebrating the richness and diversity that makes our community so special. Moments like this remind me why connection, representation, and showing up for one another matters so much.

Grateful for days like today and for everyone who took the time to connect with us

Thank you, Park Hill community… from the bottom of my heart. 💙

This journey has meant so much to me, personally, for my family, and for our entire community. Your support, your encouragement, and your belief in me carried me through every moment of this campaign.

This was not an easy race, but it was a needed one. It created space for voices that haven’t always been heard, and it reminded us all of the importance of showing up for our students and for each other.

As a mom and community advocate, this moment is deeply personal. I carry with me the stories, the hopes, and the resilience of so many families across Park Hill. And I don’t take that lightly.

I am ready to do the work. I am ready to listen, to lead with heart, and to fight for every student to feel safe, seen, and supported in our schools.

This is more than a win, it’s a step forward for all of us.

Let’s get to work. 💪🏽

I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ve been endorsed by Northland Pride network.

This endorsement is deeply personal to me. My advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community isn’t new, it’s who I’ve always been. I believe every student deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Our schools should be places where ALL students can learn, grow, and belong without fear. That means creating environments rooted in respect, inclusion, and protection for every identity.

Park Hill is for all of us. And I will always stand for policies, practices, and leadership that reflect that truth.

Thank you to Northland Pride Network for your trust and for the work you do every day to uplift and protect our youth. I carry this endorsement with so much pride.

I am incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus. 💛

This moment means so much more than just support for a campaign, it’s a reminder that women showing up, leading with heart, and fighting for our communities matters.

As a mother to 4 amazing kids and as someone who has poured my lived experiences into this work, this endorsement feels deeply personal. It tells me that our voices belong in these spaces, and that we are building something bigger together.

Thank you for believing in me. Let’s finish strong. ✨ vote April 7th!

What True Representation Looks Like in Park Hill

Representation is not a buzzword.

It’s not a slogan.

And it’s definitely not something you can reduce to a checkbox.

Lately, I’ve seen opponents try to turn this into something one-sided, making assumptions about who I am and what I stand for. Because I am a Latina, they’ve decided I must only advocate for one group of people.

That’s not listening.
That’s assuming.
And it completely dismisses what I’m actually saying.

When I speak about lived experiences, it’s not to divide, it’s to ensure we are actually hearing the full reality of the families in this district. Ignoring those voices doesn’t create unity. It creates gaps.

True representation means listening when families share their experiences, even when they don’t match your own. It means making space at the table for voices that have historically been overlooked, while still serving every single student in this district.

And yes, representation also means action.

It means making sure our classrooms are fully resourced so students and teachers have what they actually need to succeed.
It means respecting teachers’ time, if a meeting can be an email, it should be an email, and ensuring they are properly paid and supported in their work.
It means protecting programs like the Clothing Center that directly support our families and remove barriers for students.

These are not separate from representation, they are a part of it.

Because representing all students doesn’t mean ignoring differences, it means understanding them, so we can meet students where they are and help every child succeed.

I agree that our focus should always be on students.
But we cannot talk about student success without acknowledging the real experiences of the students and families we serve.

What I bring to this race is not division.
It’s listening. It’s lived experience. And it’s a commitment to ensuring every student, every single one, has access to the support and opportunities they deserve.

That is what true representation looks like.

Celebrating the rich history and contributions of Arab Americans, National Arab American Heritage Month has been observed during the month of April since 2017.

More than 3.5 million Americans have Arab roots, according to the 2020 U.S. Census, with ancestries traced to 22 countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

Honoring cultural recognitions is part of our commitment to access, inclusion and belonging, and reflects our work to recognize and uplift the lived experiences that make our Park Hill community stronger.

I recently submitted a request to support any committee that may be forming around the Clothing Center. They are also in need of volunteers, so if you’re able to lend a hand, please take a look at the link below.

This work is close to me. I collaborate with several local organizations that provide clothing and essential supplies to families in our community. One of them, Blessings by Nini and Bagoo, supported over 300 families this past holiday season.

I’ve also seen the impact of KCPS school-based clothing closets and pop-ups, many of which are led and supported by students themselves. These spaces not only meet real needs for families, but also create opportunities for youth leadership, service, and community care.

I know they are looking for a new space, if anyone I know that can help with navigating this, please reach out. I know I have a lot of Realtor Friends!! They are also limited on funds so anyone who can support!! Please do!!!

Any support we can give to efforts like this truly makes a difference. 💛
