t has come to my attention that folks who thought they were going to get a chance to vote for me in last weeks MCC Board of Trustees election, were not able to. Even though they were in my district, they were given a ballot that did not have my name on it.
Did this happen to you? Please let me know if you thought you were going to get a chance to vote for me, but you did not get a ballot with my name on it.
Some of you have already contacted me. That's how this whole issue came to my attention. I've talked to elected officials here in our county and they have urged me to dig a little deeper. To me, this is a matter of ensuring that elections are fairly and properly run in the future.
Thank you for your input on this important matter.

For the last 2 years, I have loved serving as a Metropolitan Community College Trustee and want to continue to serve. Here are a few of the things that I have been focused on during my term. I have spent my first term as a Trustee for the Junior College District of Metropolitan Kansas City (MCC: Blue River, Business and Technology, Longview, Maple Woods, Penn Valley) working for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community. These have included countless functions, such as the Longfellow Alumni Reception and Penn Valley Common Read Events, at the college campuses. Attending these types of functions, I hope it has helped students, faculty, staff, and administrators know that the Board of Trustees is an engaged Board. I truly care what is happening at the campus level throughout the District.

Seeking the communities’ views has been an important part of how I have served on the Board of Trustees. I have spent many evenings and weekends attending Neighborhood Associations and Homes Owner’s Associations meetings. I also wanted to make sure that the community had a chance to address any questions, such as if tuition was free for senior citizens, about the college directly to me.

I take fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers of Kansas City very seriously. Please know that I look after your taxpayer dollars carefully. I read and research each board packet. I make sure that I understand each agenda item, and if not ask as many questions as necessary to fully understand what it is I will be voting on.

Please be careful as you go to the polls tomorrow, June 2nd.
Some of us will voting at new locations as a result of changes made to protect public safety while voting. I respectfully ask for your vote on June 2nd.

Thank you,
Cindy Adams

I am running re-election to the Board of Trustees for the Junior College of Metropolitan Kansas City. I have been serving as Metropolitan Community College (MCC) Trustee since 2018. Let me tell you why Metropolitan Community College is so important to me.

I understand students and their needs. How do I know this? I was a student at MCC from 2007 to 2012. And, I earned an Associates degree. I went back to school because I wanted to explore different subjects of interest to me and I really enjoyed the dedication of the professors. And that is why I also fight for the faculty.

I am such a believer in the faculty that I too taught machining at the MCC Business and Technology campus. There is more to being faculty than just the student facing hours. There is class preparation, grading, committee work and more. That is why as a Trustee I not only fight for the students but I fight for the faculty too. But there is one more important point to the triangle.

I also fight for the community. I fight for fiscal responsibility of taxpayer dollars. As a resident of Subdistrict 2, I attend neighborhood meetings so that I can hear from you. The community voice is important to me as we watch MCC enhance your community programs.

While we are living in a COVID-19 world it is still important to exercise our right to vote. I do encourage all of you wear face masks and follow CDC guidelines for staying safe.
I know this is a difficult time for everyone, stay safe and be kind to one another.
