Someone recently asked me if I get tired of advocating, and I replied "I get tired of being misunderstood"

This meme came across my newsfeed at just the right time.

What people don't understand is what exactly "children need structure" means.

It doesn't mean they need a rigid schedule.
It doesn't mean they need adults to direct them.

"Children need structure" means children need consistent and trusting boundaries that empower them to safely and respectfully be their true selves.

As a new school year approaches, and with it, external pressures for academic achievement, I'd like to remind you to STAND UP for a child's right for ample time to lead their very own PLAY.

Play should not be the reward for good behavior and academic performance.

Play should BE THE MAJORITY of a young child's day.

Play does not mean "today, boys and girls, I have created a bakery for you, this is how you will play with it."

Play means: "I can't wait to see what YOU do. Go play" ❤️
