We are excited to share the 2026–27 School Advisory Committee (SAC) Officers for Lincoln Middle School. This team of caregivers will help guide family engagement, strengthen communication, and support the academic and social success of our students throughout the year.

SAC is Lincoln’s parent‑led organization that works in partnership with school leadership to:

* Support school initiatives — from events to academic programs.
* Strengthen communication between families and the school.
* Provide feedback on school climate, culture, and family needs.
* Organize volunteers for activities, events, and student support.
* Build community through connection, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Every Lincoln caregiver is already a member of SAC — no sign‑up required. Your voice, your ideas, and your presence matter. 🐯

This year, we’re inviting all Lincoln caregivers to get on board and become actively involved. Whether you join a committee, volunteer at an event, or simply attend meetings, your participation strengthens our school community.

Your involvement helps shape the experiences our students have every single day.

📬 Want to Get Connected? Send an email to [email protected], attend a meeting, or reach out to any SAC officer. There’s a place for every caregiver at the table.

Here’s to a strong, unified, and engaged 2026–27 school year at Lincoln Middle School! 💙💛

If you have not completed your Annual Enrollment, the time is nigh. Given that Annual Enrollment has been open since March 2026, our continued outreach to families remains a significant area of focus. (See attached flyers)

Upcoming enrollment clinics are scheduled as follows:
• July 16, 2026 | 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Garfield Elementary
• July 25, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – AC Prep

Lincoln families who still need to complete their Annual Enrollment are encouraged to attend one of our support days for hands-on assistance. It’s important that every student is fully enrolled so we can secure their school placement and transportation for the 2026–27 school year.

Students in our Medical Detectives elective wrapped up their nervous system unit with an unforgettable hands‑on lab: a sheep brain dissection. Throughout the activity, students identified major brain regions, examined real anatomical structures, and connected what they saw to the functions they’ve been studying in class.

This experience gave students a deeper understanding of how the nervous system works and allowed them to apply their learning in a meaningful, memorable way. It was an exciting milestone in their exploration of medical science at Lincoln Middle.

The Lincoln Middle School Debate Team was proudly recognized at this year’s Debate Kansas City (DKC) Annual Awards Night, where several of our students made the cut for special district honors. Families were invited to join in the celebration, enjoy a dessert buffet, and cheer on our outstanding debaters as they received well‑deserved recognition.

This year’s ceremony took place on Monday, April 27, at the UMKC Student Union—a new venue for the event while Pierson Auditorium undergoes upgrades. Our team members were greeted at the location to celebrate together.

We are incredibly proud of the following Lincoln Middle honorees.

Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence shone brightly, and we congratulate each of them on this remarkable achievement. The evening was a wonderful celebration of student voice, critical thinking, and the power of academic competition within our community.

Mr. Mark Carling, Science teacher, was honored as this year’s staff speaker at our Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony.

After decades of dedication to Lincoln Middle and the students of Kansas City, Mr. Carling will be retiring at the end of this school year. His steady presence, his commitment to excellence, and his genuine care for our scholars have shaped countless lives.

We are deeply grateful for his many contributions to our school community, and we will truly miss his voice, his leadership, and his heart.

Thank you, Mr. Carling, for everything. Congratulations on your well‑earned retirement.

"Do you know what today is?" 🎵 Yep… it’s the last day of schooool, and the kids are already mentally on vacation.

Reminder: It’s a half day, so students will be out the door by noon—possibly faster than you can say “summer break.” ☀️

What a beautiful celebration at Lincoln Middle today! Our Eighth Grade Promotion filled the auditorium with proud families, joyful cheers, and a true sense of community.

The ceremony opened with the Band, under the direction of Mr. Ricky Maltbia, performing the National Anthem, followed by a graceful processional as the Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Kasey Wasson, played Pomp and Circumstance.

We were honored to welcome Principal Melissa Zirkel, who came especially to greet our guests and share heartfelt celebratory remarks with the promotees. Her words set the perfect tone for the ceremony.

Student leaders lifted their voices with reflections on growth, resilience, and the journey ahead. Our keynote speaker, Shanelle Smith, Principal at Lincoln Prep, delivered an inspiring message that encouraged students to lead boldly and dream big.

Promotees then crossed the stage to receive their certificates, each one met with well earned applause. The ceremony closed with a meaningful staff speech from Mr. Mark Carling, who is retiring after this school year and was selected by students and staff to share final words of wisdom.

Afterwards, a reception was held in the library to celebrate our promotees and their families. And random photos of families were taken indoors and outside the building.

Congratulations to the Class of 2030! We are so proud of you. 💙💛✨

What an unforgettable Field Day at Lincoln Middle! 🎉

From the moment students stepped outside, the campus was buzzing with joy, laughter, and nonstop activity. Our scholars spent the day rotating through a lineup of favorites including board games, giant Connect 4, block building, badminton, banner coloring, chalk walk art, a lively balloon fight, and of course—everyone’s favorite—inflatable attractions.

And in true Tiger pride fashion, our students made their voices heard. After a unanimous vote, FOOD TRUCKS rolled in and stole the show! The excitement was real, and the smiles said it all.

Field Day reached peak fun when students and staff faced off in a wildly entertaining pie‑throwing challenge. Vice Principal Adams looked calm and collected in his “before” picture… but that didn’t last long. Pies flew, students cheered, and the gym absolutely erupted when Ms. Clarissa ended up with a perfect pie-to-the-face moment. Her whipped‑cream‑covered “after” photo is already legendary.

What made the day even more special? More than twenty adult volunteers showed up to help distribute goodies, supervise activities, and make sure every student had a safe, memorable experience. That level of parent and community involvement speaks volumes about the love surrounding our school.

It was a fun filled, memory making, school spirit boosting kind of day—exactly the way we love closing out the year at Lincoln Middle.

Here’s to joy, community, and a strong finish to an amazing school year! 💙💛
