New Chelsea Elementary

🐄🌾 On April 23rd, our 1st graders had an unforgettable day on their field trip to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead! 🐐🎣

Students had the opportunity to explore, learn, and have fun through many hands-on experiences throughout the day. They saw a variety of animals, learned interesting facts about farm animals and pets, and even got to feed some of them! 🐑🐓🦙

Some students enjoyed fishing 🎣 and others learned about Native tribes in Kansas and interacted with artifacts to better understand Kansas history and culture. Students also had the chance to “open bank accounts” and learn basic money and banking concepts in a fun and engaging way. 💰🏦 To top it all off, everyone enjoyed a relaxing wagon ride around the farmstead! 🚜

Field trips like these create lasting memories while bringing classroom learning to life. Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and families who helped make this special day possible for our students! ❤️👏

We are so proud to have in our school community Vianey Guerrero, parent of 1st grade scholar Isabel Herrera, who was invited to Washington, D.C. to speak about the benefits of receiving Head Start and Early Childhood education. 👏🎉

What an incredible opportunity to represent our community and share the importance of early learning and the positive impact it has on students and families! 📚❤️

🌎💚 Ms. Colter’s class celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd by helping clean up our school grounds and taking care of our Earth! Students worked hard to make our school and community a cleaner, better place for everyone. 🧹♻️

Our students are working hard on subtracting within 10 by using manipulatives and partnering up to solve problems together. These young mathematicians are building confidence, strengthening their skills, and supporting one another every step of the way!

Once upon a time… our first graders celebrated Fairy Tale Day as they wrapped up their magical unit! ✨📚

Students came dressed as kings, queens, and their favorite fairy tale characters, bringing their stories to life right here at school. From crowns to capes, the creativity was truly enchanting!

What a fun and memorable way to celebrate all the reading, learning, and imagination from this unit. We’re so proud of our little storytellers! 👑🐉📖

New Chelsea hosted its annual Multicultural Night on March 25th, and it was an incredible celebration of our school community! 🌎✨

Families enjoyed an evening filled with games, music, art, and the opportunity to sample a variety of delicious foods from cultures around the world. It was a joyful experience that brought us all together and highlighted the rich diversity that makes New Chelsea so special.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event so memorable—we loved celebrating with you! 💛

Last week 2nd and 3rd graders finished up their clay monsters and animals! 🎨 From sculpting to glaze, these artists should be proud of their perseverance and hard work! We couldn’t be more proud—these creations are clay-mazing! 👏🧡
