Belger Arts is thrilled to introduce our second glass resident, Santiago Mora!

A graduate of the glass program at Ohio State University, Mora's current work explores the architecture of modern aviation, and he focuses on the intersections of glass and flight.

Mora is interested in the relationship between glass and industrial elements and explains that "the glass acts as an instrument in visualizing the dynamic thrill of balance across all of its contexts, allowing me to strive for cruising altitude across a sensitive triad of concept, craft, and genuine connection."

We can't wait to see where his work goes during his residency here at Belger Arts!

See Mora and our other Glass Resident help Emily Potter during this First Friday's Glassblowing Demo on September 4 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

We are delighted to reintroduce our next returning Resident Artist, Zoey McLeod!

Growing up in her grandfather’s glass blowing shop, McLeod has been exposed to the intimate connection between maker and object since childhood. She discovered clay at Indiana University, where she received her BFA in December of 2023.

McLeod explains that her "work exists at the intersection of tangible and emotional utility." She values making in collaboration with natural materials to use as mementos of memory and adorn the home, instilling pieces of affectionate nostalgia within the domestic space.

We're super excited to have her join us for a second year, and we look forward to what she'll create! ❤️

Her work will be on view in "Proximity and Practice" through September 5, and she will be giving a Live Clay Demo during First Friday on September 4 from 6PM to 8PM.

Belger Arts is happy to reintroduce the first of our returning Resident Artists, Erin Drake!

Originally from Ohio, Drake received her BFA from Bowling Green State University and her MFA from the University of Missouri. She is now a second-year resident here at Belger Arts.

During her time at Belger, Drake has focused on creating small, conceptual ecosystems by combining stones, fruit, flower buds, and small foliage to hide insects or other invented animals.

Drake hopes "to evoke a sense of wonder, urging the viewer to pause and look closer at the unfamiliar and the infinite ways in which the natural world unfolds to surprise us. "

We're excited to see what Drake creates in the next year of her residency!

Her work will be on view in "Proximity and Practice" through September 5, and you can take Wheel Throwing Level Three with Drake on Mondays this September.

We're excited to introduce the first of our new Glass Resident Artists, Jamison Cole!

Cole is from Rochester, New York, and he graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Glass and a minor in Fine Art Photography. He uses a combination of digital and analog photography, as well as blown, cast, kiln-formed, and cold-worked glass.

His work investigates the inherent bond between photography and glass within the camera, and the personal relationship between this connection, himself, and the world around him.

Cole explains that with both glass and photography, "the utilization and manipulation of light, optics, imagery, and the hollow void allow him to consider his surroundings via history, his memories, and natural phenomena."

We look forward to seeing what he creates during his residency!

See Cole and our other Glass Resident help Emily Potter during this First Friday's Glassblowing Demo on September 4 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
