Shoal Creek Serves creates community service volunteer opportunities for our students to become leaders in their community.

The mission of the Shoal Creek Serves Committee is to provide our Shoal Creek Elementary School students and families with community service volunteer opportunities that will reinforce the leadership and life skills lessons that they are learning through The Leader In Me Program. Wayside Waifs would love to partner with your and your family over reading to shelter animals! This program is NOT affiliated with SC Serves but is still a wonderful volunteer opportunity.

NEW DATES for our Once U-PAW-n A Time reading program are up! Sign your family up to read to our adoptable animals, helping to lower their stress level and giving young readers an opportunity to practice their reading skills with a non-judgmental audience! For questions, email Ashley Stanley, Humane Education Manager at [email protected]

The Shoal Creek PTA Serves Food Pack Program provides supplemental groceries for 60+ families in the LPS District.

There are 2 easy ways to help:
1.Donating peanut butter, dried noodles, canned vegetables and canned fruit. If you'd like to donate any of these items, you can drop them off in the large black bin in the lobby of the school, just outside the front office door.
2.Helping to pack the food.
Each pack night promises to be fun, and you get the benefit of knowing you’ve helped fill a need for a local family. It's a great way to get your children involved in serving others! If you are interested contact Harmony Belden at 816-806-4854 or [email protected].

Please like the Shoal Creek Serves page for more opportunities to come help!
We appreciate your support!

Just a reminder that you can send in donated items with your students. We have three donation bins (one at the front entrance, one in the cafeteria, and one in the 5th grade hallway).

What a wonderful opportunity outside of school! While we cannot yet take large groups with Serves, you can still go to Wayside and volunteer as a family!

This is not part of Serves so I don’t have much more information but Wayside is wonderful and I’m sure can answer any questions you may have!!

Join us for our Families in Action program! Families who love helping animals will work together on a volunteer project such as making dog toys or cat enrichment! Each visit includes a short tour of adoptable animals! Youth must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. Newcomers sign up for orientation first. After completing orientation, you can start signing up for Families in Action Club! Go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4da5ae2fa2fe3-families for more details and to sign up!

Shoal Creek Adopts Families Through the Liberty Community Christmas Tree
Each year, as a school, we adopt a few families through the Liberty Community Christmas Tree Program. On Friday, November 19th, students are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a dollar. All money supports buying gifts for the adopted families.

If your family is interested in adopting a family on your own, here is a link with more information. https://www.libertymissouri.gov/1846/Adopt-A-Family

Hello Star friends and family! We wanted to post a quick update as to what’s happening with Serves this year. With the ongoing pandemic and more regulations, we have not been able to secure any volunteer opportunities with local animal shelters as we have in the past. We will start posting some other opportunities to help serve your community that can be done outside of school. If you have questions, please let us know! Continue to share the page with new Stars and we’ll hopefully be back next year with more service options!

We are so excited to be packing food packs again for students’ families in the Liberty district that could use a little help! Come join us for a fun pack night or two!
