Meet the Assistant Director at Brookside, Ms.Leslie!💕

Leslie has over 3 years of experience of childcare from infants to Pre-K and has obtained her CDA.
Leslie originally started at the Overland Park Location where she was the Lead Infant Teacher for a while until she got promoted to the assistant director position in August 2025. Once Brookside had a open position, Leslie decided to transfer over to become their new assistant director and be part of the Brookside Team.
Leslie is striving and eager to learn and grow more into the childhood industry and we couldn't be more proud to have her.

Leslie enjoys nature walks with her two dogs and loves spending time with her husband and family members.
She also enjoys a very good matcha drink daily and loves to sing and be creative!

Play is how young children make sense of the world, so it's also one of the most natural ways to learn a new language. As students build, create, explore, and imagine together, they're hearing and using Spanish in meaningful, everyday moments.

That same play-based approach extends far beyond language learning. Through hands-on experiences, our students build early literacy and math skills, strengthen problem-solving and creativity, and develop the social-emotional skills they'll use for years to come.

I am Michelle Prieto, The Center Director at Tierra Encantada Brookside and I am very pleased to be here.
I have dedicated most of my life working with children and families in variety of roles. Including teacher, private tutor, social worker, church nursery, and primary teacher.
I bring wealth of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to the Tierra Encantada Community.

I hold a bachelors degree in Sociology and have a strong interest in Child Development and Nutrition. My educational background also includes legal studies, Having successfully completed my first year of law school before relocating to a new state and welcoming my daughter.
The Diverse Academic and professional experience has strengthened my skills in Leadership, Communication, Adaptability, Advocacy, and Problem Solving.

As a parent myself I understand the trust families place in the childcare providers each day and the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child,

Born in Portugal, I have also lived in Spain, Brazil, and the U.S. Experiencing different cultures has shaped into who I am today and sparked a love of learning about people, languages, and traditions from around the world..
