A former student having a crisis in "inspiration" recently asked: What does it mean to create a an ARTFUL life? Do you see art in everything you do, or is it just an activity?
Those of you who know me know that living artfully is a key value for me. I'm just not happy if I am not being creative in some way. Luckily, I can find an "artful" application to just about anything. Lately, that has manifested heavily in my kitchen. Because I'm learning a clean eating lifestyle, I've spent long hours poring over different food regimens. I've studied everything from paleo & raw to alkaline and vegan. It's been quite a journey these past few months finding what I thought might be the right combo for me. I ended up with a 3 week detox & cleanse using the Candida Diet as the base with a few changes (http://www.thecandidadiet.com/cleansing.htm) aimed at starving out yeast and cleaning out my colon & liver (given that & have only 1 kidney now & lived with a pound & half tumor for over a decade, I wanted to give my organs a real rest!). As I'm finishing the cleanse, I definitely feel better! I was surprised how intense it would be (both physically and emotionally), but it seems my system is grateful! No more bloating, or bathroom 'troubles', and my skin is amazing. I'm sleeping better (though never enough!) and no longer have that "lull" in the afternoon! I've even stopped taking Ibuprofen for those "achy" parts that inevitably arose every afternoon. Pretty amazing for just a few weeks in!!! I'll post an update in a week & link to a few of my favorite new go-to recipes (Im having a blast creating in the kitchen!). For now, its green tea, green sludge, and feeling pretty darn good!
