Turner Elementary School is located in the heart of the Turner school district between Turner High School and Turner Middle School with approximate boundaries of 47th Street on the East, 59th Street on the West, Douglas Avenue on the South, and Kansas Avenue on the North. As of the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year, Turner Elementary serves approximately 590 students, grades PK through five.

Our campus is adjacent to Pierson Park and is the former Pierson Junior High School. When the new Turner High School was opened and the former Turner High building became Turner Middle School, the Pierson campus was remodeled for elementary students, and we relocated from the former Turner Grade campus that is now recognized as the Turner Recreation Center. With a full contingent of highly professional certified and classified staff, Turner Elementary staff are working together to ensure our students get the best educational opportunities available. Turner Elementary School is a great place to learn and to grow.

Ms. Lundberg’s Class is Wrapped in Kindness! 💫💙

Ms. Lundberg’s students recently created a kindness chain after discussing what kindness looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Students shared examples of kind words, thoughtful actions, and ways they can make others feel included and cared for.

This activity helped students recognize that kindness is something we can practice every day! As their chain continues to grow, so does their reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

And the chain isn’t finished yet! Students will continue adding links whenever they see a classmate showing kindness, making their chain a growing celebration of the kind and caring community they are building together! 💙

Ms. Frame’s second grade class is building their math fluency through addition! They recently learned and played a new game called PIG, giving students a fun and engaging way to practice their addition skills.

Through this game, students are becoming more confident with addition, recognizing numbers more quickly, and building automaticity with their math facts. We love seeing students practice important skills while having fun! 🐷➕

🌟 Help us congratulate Mrs. Jones! 🌟

We are proud to announce that Mrs. Jones has been nominated to represent Turner Elementary as a Kansas Teacher of the Year nominee!

The Kansas Teacher of the Year (KTOY) program recognizes outstanding educators across Kansas who demonstrate excellence in teaching and leadership in education. Nominees have the opportunity to be recognized at the local, regional, and state levels while representing the incredible work happening in Kansas classrooms.

✖️Multiplication & Division in Action➗

Our 3rd graders are building a strong foundation for Multiplication and Division as they connect hands-on learning to Eureka Math² Module 1! 🧮

Using crackers and plates, students are creating concrete models of multiplication and division equations, helping them see how these operations are connected and related. Hands-on learning like this helps students make meaningful connections when solving word problems, drawing arrays, and writing equations. It also gives them a chance to see how multiplication and division word problems are written differently.

We love seeing our students learn by doing! 💛🐻💙

Dressed in Pink to Honor Dolly Parton! 💕📚

Dolly Parton was not only an incredible singer, songwriter, and actress, but also an amazing advocate and champion for education and children.

Through the Dollywood Foundation, Dolly has made an incredible impact on education, including:

📚 Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – Provides free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5, helping millions of children develop a love of reading.

🎓 Scholarships – Dolly provides scholarships to help students pursue higher education and reach their goals.

🏫 Supporting Students – Her early programs encouraged students to stay in school and graduate, helping reduce dropout rates.

💕 Dolly believes in giving children opportunities to dream, learn, and succeed, and her work has helped millions of children do just that.

Today, we wear pink to celebrate a true champion for children, literacy, and education! 💕📖
