Garrett Fry celebrated his birthday yesterday by advancing past the first 3 rounds of the National Spelling Bee. The quarterfinals are happening now. You can follow along at spellingbee.com.

We have a winner!
The winner of the 2024 Mid-Continent Public Library Spelling Bee is Garrett Fry. Garrett won with the word macushla, which means "darling." This is a repeat win for the 8th grader from Delta Woods Middle School. He was the 2023 champion.
Garrett had stiff competition from the runner up, Benjamin Roberts, an 8th grader from Summit Lakes Middle School.

The Mid-Continent Public Library Semi-Final Spelling Bee test is today, Saturday, March 2 at the Midwest Genealogy Center, 3440 S. Lee’s Summit Road, Independence. Registration begins at 9:30 am and the Semi-Final Test begins at 10:00 am.
Spellers scoring in the top third onthe test will advance to the Championship Bee at 1:00 pm.

Hello Spelling Bee Families !

Just as a reminder, the semifinal online test opens up tomorrow, February 7th, and runs through February 14th.

This test will find us our finalists for the regional Championship Spelling Bee at the Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, MO, on March 2nd.

Good luck this week with the semifinal test, and we look forward to seeing our regional finalists in a month ! 🐝
