The College Connections Center provides FREE one-on-one advising over the summer to any college-bound student and their families planning on going to ANY college in the fall. Advisement is provided for FREE by experienced certified high school counselors, college access coaches, and financial aid officers. Volunteers at the Center are trained to advise students on all processes related to college
planning, admissions, and financing. In addition, they provide parents with the information they need to encourage and support their children's pursuit of a postsecondary education. The Center is located in Humanity Building 029 on the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley campus (3201 Southwest Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64111-2764) and will be open:
June 1, 2015 – July 31, 2015 (Closed on July 4th)
Monday – Friday, 10 am – 3 pm
Tuesday, 5 pm – 7 pm
Saturday, 11 am – 2 pm
In accordance with the college admissions cycle, the following services are provided at the College Connections Center:
-One-on-one advisement to help students identify current postsecondary options;
-Figuring out financial aid, planning a budget for college, and where to live;
-Assisting with understanding the financial aid award letter and identifying possible other financial assistance;
-Completing the admission process for those deciding during summer to attend college in fall;
-Helping students understand college testing requirements and where to access tests during summer;
-Accessing online enrollment and course registration systems and ensuring the student is successfully enrolled in courses;
-Accessing summer transition and enrichment programs when space is available; and
-Answering general questions regarding college.
