ABOUT CHLOE ✨✨
Hi, I'm Chloe Dawson, and I am thrilled to be joining Brookside Counseling as an intern. I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Counseling at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where my studies have focused on using evidence-based practices, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help my clients navigate a wide variety of challenges and achieve their own identified personal growth.

I am passionate about working with adults and have a strong interest in addressing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, identity development, and postpartum challenges. My experience has helped me build meaningful connections with people from all walks of life, and I strive to bring a collaborative and compassionate approach to everything I do.

School in the time of Covid-19?
There is no doubt, the coronavirus pandemic is taking its toll on all of us. We fear for our physical health and safety during this time, and the significantly negative impact of social isolation and inertia is wreaking havoc on our mental health. In that spirit, parents, educators, lawmakers, and other concerned parties are struggling with the efficacy of physically sending children back into school buildings this fall. Join us as we grapple with this issue and seek answers to questions surrounding both the physical and mental health risks and rewards of a return to the classroom in the time of COVID.

We are all being challenged to stay present with so many uncertainties right now. Life as we knew it has been put on hold. It is tempting to distract from the discomfort with TV, food, drink, games. But our yoga practice asks us to stay present. To notice the anxiety, the resistance, the urge to fill the void. Try to allow, rather than resist, the tide of emotions that ebb and flow during this time. Maybe fear, sadness, anger, grief. Maybe hope, contentment, curiosity. Don't question whether what you are feeling is "right" or appropriate. Just feel it, breathe it, allow it. Be in the here and now. Peace to all of us. Namaste.
