Meet Libby!
Libby started with KCE in January 2018. Prior to that, she was a gymnast and triathlete, but she was also no stranger to the half and full marathon distances. Looking through her old training logs, she would easily put in 7 to 13 hours of training per week on top of her career as a doctor. Needless to say, she's a go-getter. Some of her workouts would upload at 4:45 AM!
Between 2018 and now, Libby did a couple more triathlons AND added two boys to her family so training fluctuated a bit while she added more to her schedule if that was a possibility. Somewhere in 2024, she started dropping massive amounts of time off her race times. That year, she went from running a half marathon in 1:56 to beating that twice-over in the Cal-International Marathon, running a 3:44:10! The streak just continued into 2025 as she bettered her half marathon to a 1:38 and marathon to 3:34:17 hitting a BQ!
It's no secret Libby works hard in every aspect of her life, but she is also one of the most fun, relatable people you'd ever meet. She's got the best sarcastic complaints. Cracks me up every time 😆. She's also incredibly kind and will help you any way she can if something comes up. Libby is easily one of my favorite personalities.
Thanks so much for being part of this crew, Libby! You are so very much valued and admired here.

Tonight we made signs and bracelets for Rock The Parkway Half Marathon . A really great idea by Sarah Frances
It may surprise some, but keeping a running group going is challenging. When you get people that take time and energy out of their day, after they just got off work, to show up for something as simple as making signs and bracelets, it's so very meaningful.
I'm so grateful to the people that plan.
I'm grateful for the people that are there when they have other things going on.
I'm grateful for the people that come even when they're injured.
I'm grateful for those that have been here for YEARS!
I'm grateful for people that simply show up! It's so much more important than most would understand.
How do I give a big enough THANK YOU?
I'm not sure I can, but THANK YOU ALL for being here!

Meet Mike Groes!
Mike started with KCE in late November of 2021 as he wanted to prepare for the Boston Marathon 2022.
He had already come in with a quick 3:12 from years prior, but started nailing some larger workouts and regular 50-65 mile weeks. He ended up equaling his best on the tough hills of Boston in 3:12!
In fairly short succession after, he boosted his mileage a tiny bit and ran a PR of 3:09:11 in Twin Cities on a hot day and a 1 second PR a month later in Philadelphia in 3:09:10! An amazing turnaround. He's one of those guys that can do it again a short time later and do very well. A few months after that, Mike was doing Boston AGAIN, in which he blasted a bigger PR of 3:06:17!
Mike travels a ton for work yet somehow he manages to get up to do his workouts and long runs. He used to have to drive quite a way just to get to our Saturday long runs and midweek workouts. Dedication is no problem for him... or if it is, you wouldn't be able to tell.
Mike is super easy-going. You can have a conversation with him about anything. He's kind, approachable, and you'd swear you've known him for years if you just met him. On several occasions, he's taken the lead on group runs and gone out of his way to show up early to set up water stops.
Thanks for being part of this team, Mike! You're a big part of what makes this group so special!
